About The Position

Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MainePERS) seeks a Senior Programmer Analyst to join our IT department. This position performs advanced technical data processing work involving the development, enhancement, and maintenance of highly complex computer applications. This role is responsible for assessing user requirements, translating logical designs into effective technical solutions, designing and implementing system applications, and managing projects from conception through installation. Work is performed under limited supervision and requires a high level of independent judgment, technical expertise, and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Success in this role requires the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, build strong customer relationships, and work collaboratively to achieve shared objectives. Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in a computer-related field 2 years of experience OR 5 years of experience OR any combination of relevant education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analysis of defined computer-oriented system problems and develop feasible solutions in accordance with industry standards.
  • Assess user requirements and translate logical designs into effective technical solutions.
  • Design application systems and develop detailed design specifications.
  • Perform difficult and specialized programming assignments.
  • Maintain systems and respond promptly to production issues and user concerns.
  • Diagnose, isolate, and correct application software problems to prevent future occurrences.
  • Develop detailed project plans using standard project management tools and methodologies.
  • Manage projects from concept through implementation and installation.
  • Utilize effective time management while managing multiple priorities and tasks.
  • Communicate proposed technical solutions clearly to non-technical staff and stakeholders.
  • Perform structured testing and validation of applications prior to deployment.
  • Build strong customer relationships and work collaboratively with others to achieve shared objectives.
