National Grid is hiring a Senior Program Manager in its NE Electric Engineering and Network Strategy - Commercial Operations department. The position can be based in Upstate or Downstate New York, or Waltham, Massachusetts. The role supports implementation of Massachusetts’ Electric Sector Modernization Plan (ESMP), which aims to enable an electric network that supports the Commonwealth’s climate, clean energy, and equity objectives. A key focus is deploying Non-Wires Alternatives (NWAs)—clean energy solutions using customer-sited resources and virtual power plants to address grid constraints and potentially defer traditional infrastructure investments. The Senior Program Manager will lead a portfolio of NWA projects across National Grid’s Massachusetts service territory. The role coordinates internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver innovative, cost-effective, and scalable grid flexibility solutions. It includes project management from opportunity screening and vendor selection through budget, schedule, contractor, data, settlement, and billing support, as well as regulatory coordination and stakeholder reporting. Occasional travel within Massachusetts is required.

  • Strong understanding of distributed energy resources, including energy efficiency, demand response, energy storage, NWAs, and distributed generation.
  • Experience drafting RFPs and conducting benefit/cost analyses.
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High initiative and ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-evolving environments.
