About The Position

Lead the safety and compliance strategy for a major public transit system. In this role, you will serve as the primary client lead and trusted advisor, ensuring safety programs, audits, and regulatory requirements are met with precision and credibility. Your work will directly strengthen system safety, improve audit readiness, and help protect riders, employees, and operations.

Requirements

10 plus years in safety, compliance, or program management
Experience in transit, transportation, infrastructure, or other regulated environments
Background in audits, inspections, or compliance programs
Strong project leadership and communication skills
Working knowledge of OSHA or FTA requirements
Experience with safety management systems and risk mitigation

Nice To Haves

Certifications such as CSP, ASP, PMP, SMS, or similar
Transit experience, including bus or rail
Familiarity with APTA or State Safety Oversight
Experience with dashboards, reporting, or audit tracking tools

Responsibilities

Act as primary client contact for safety leadership
Manage on-call tasks from scope through closeout
Translate requests into clear plans, schedules, staffing, and deliverables
Oversee safety programs including SMS, Safety and Security Certification, and Risk-Based Inspection
Ensure alignment with FTA, OSHA, and industry standards
Lead audits, corrective actions, and hazard tracking
Manage teams, budgets, and timelines
Review deliverables for quality, accuracy, and compliance
Provide clear updates, reports, and executive summaries
