This Opportunity Provides experienced electrical engineering leadership for healthcare building projects, including new construction, renovations, infrastructure upgrades, and complex work in occupied clinical environments. This role serves as a day-to-day technical resource for the electrical team, helping connect project managers, technical leads, and production staff. The successful candidate will take ownership of technical design and production oversight, mentor developing engineers, support quality reviews, and represent WSP professionally with clients, contractors, and project partners. Responsibilities must be delivered with a level of quality that meets or exceeds applicable standards for design, safety, reliability, coordination, and functionality. It is widely stated—and supported by studies—that candidates, especially women, are less likely to apply for a job unless they believe they meet 100% of the hiring criteria. WSP's talent acquisition goals include hiring the candidate who is best able to meet the performance objectives of the role. We therefore encourage persons with non-traditional skill sets and experiences to apply, even if you believe you do not meet 100% of the qualifications and hiring criteria described. Your Impact Serve as an experienced technical lead for healthcare electrical design projects, with emphasis on power distribution, lighting, normal and emergency systems, grounding, fire alarm coordination, and supporting infrastructure. Oversee day-to-day electrical design and production activities, coordinating priorities among project managers, technical leads, and production staff so work progresses accurately and efficiently. Take ownership of significant portions of the technical design, including calculations, equipment selection and sizing, one-line diagrams, plans, specifications, schedules, and technical documentation. Provide accessible, hands-on technical guidance to junior and developing engineers and designers; review their work, explain design decisions, and help build sound engineering judgment and consistent production practices. Perform and review electrical calculations, including load calculations, equipment and feeder sizing, short-circuit analysis, overcurrent protective device coordination, voltage drop, grounding, and related studies appropriate to building projects. Lead discipline coordination with mechanical, plumbing, architectural, structural, technology, medical equipment, and other project stakeholders, with particular attention to the operational constraints of healthcare facilities. Apply applicable electrical, building, energy, life safety, and healthcare facility codes and standards, and clearly document the basis of design and technical decisions. Provide disciplined QA/QC of drawings, specifications, calculations, and other deliverables; identify coordination gaps, follow comments through closure, and maintain a high level of accuracy and completeness. Represent WSP professionally in owner, architect, contractor, and consultant meetings; communicate technical matters clearly to both engineering and non-engineering audiences. Support construction administration through submittal and RFI review, site observations, field investigations, punch walks, and documentation of existing conditions and construction progress. Maintain organized project files, calculations, correspondence, and design documentation in accordance with team and company practices. Follow through on commitments and complete assigned work when promised. Support project planning and execution by coordinating tasks, monitoring progress, communicating risks early, and helping project managers align technical scope, schedule, staffing, and deliverables. Develop trusted working relationships with teammates and clients through responsiveness, reliability, collaboration, sound judgment, and respectful communication. Remain current with electrical engineering practices, healthcare design considerations, digital delivery tools, and relevant codes and standards. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
