About The Position

Morgan Stanley is a leading global financial services firm. Parametric, part of Morgan Stanley Investment Management, is a leader in custom solutions for over 30 years, helping investors access efficient market exposures, solve implementation challenges, and design multi-asset portfolios. This role is part of Parametric's hybrid working model, which includes working in the office 3 days a week and choosing to work remotely or in the office the remaining days of the week. The Application Support and Automation team is responsible for supporting all production applications at Parametric, including on-prem and cloud-based proprietary and off-the-shelf applications. The automation team develops and maintains all inbound and outbound file transmissions and internal automations. Our Production Support team acts as the front line for issues involving all business-critical applications, including Parametric proprietary software, open-source commodity middleware, cloud-deployed sites, and network intersections with hosted solutions. Qualified senior-level candidates will have a passion for IT, excellent communication and organization skills, and be capable of working in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment. A financial services background is strongly encouraged. High energy, a can-do attitude, and intense curiosity are required.

Requirements

• 6 years of relevant professional experience.
• 4 years experience with SQL including writing and understanding queries.
• Experience supporting a 24/7 environment.
• Experience with DevOps practices including Octopus, JIRA, Confluence or equivalent platforms.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills targeted to a variety of audiences including technical and non-technical users.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, social environment, yet be able to work independently as necessary.
• Experience supporting a Windows based environment including basic server administration.
• Patience and attention to detail is essential.

Nice To Haves

• Scripting/automation and continuous improvement experience is a plus.
• Previous experience supporting line of business applications is a plus.
• Experience with Linux/UNIX based platforms is a plus.
• Experience with Powershell or other scripting languages is a plus.
• Financial industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Fulfills issue triage for production IT operations/sysops/devops.
• Expedites repetitive tasks for end users while working with development to deploy automation.
• Explores data stores and derives ad hoc reports and KPI’s.
• Deploys software as part of the change and release management process.
• Educates end users regarding new or misunderstood features.
• Participates in the continuous improvement process by highlighting new issues to development.
• Investigates logs and correlates failures between applications and databases.
• Understands and demonstrates mastery of internal applications used for the daily business cycles (research, analysis, trading, accounting).
• As a senior member of the team, crafts new processes and revises existing documented workflows, aligning daily tasks to personal efficiencies.
• Triages and resolves tickets for supported systems and applications.
• Provides troubleshooting expertise for all aspects of an application including vendor and custom-built apps.
• Develops and maintains knowledge base articles.
• Follows established procedures for managing business risk when updating production systems.
• Creates and updates process automation.
• Participates in projects that enhance or upgrade Parametric systems or employee experience.
• Works as part of a team to provide complete 24/7 support to the production environment, including being a member of an on-call rotation.
• Enhances the monitoring and oversight of applications to ensure proactive alerting where possible.
