About The Position

We are seeking a highly analytical and technically experienced Product Strategy Senior Engineer to develop and execute product and technology strategies for our Turning and Milling business lines. This role will serve as a key technical link between customers, sales, applications engineering, R&D, Automation, Customer Service, and global headquarters to identify market opportunities and translate customer and industry requirements into product and technology initiatives. The Product Strategy Senior Engineer will conduct market and competitive analysis, evaluate emerging manufacturing technologies, identify customer pain points and application requirements, and develop recommendations that support future product development and portfolio strategy. The role will also support new product introductions, product enhancements, and global product initiatives while ensuring that solutions are technically competitive and aligned with the needs of the North American market. This position requires a strong understanding of the machine tool industry, manufacturing processes, CNC machine applications, and emerging technologies, combined with the ability to analyze complex technical and market information and communicate recommendations to both technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the machine tool, CNC, manufacturing, automation, or related industrial equipment industry.
  • Strong knowledge of the Machine Tool Industry is required, including CNC Turning and/or Milling equipment, manufacturing processes, applications, and competitive technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate technical products, manufacturing technologies, and product development strategies within the North American market.
  • Strong understanding of customer applications, manufacturing processes, and the technical factors that influence machine tool selection and performance.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical and market information and translate findings into clear product and technology recommendations.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with Engineering, R&D, Applications, Sales, Automation, Customer Service, Marketing, and global teams.
  • Strong customer-facing and networking skills, with the ability to develop relationships with manufacturing organizations and stay current with contemporary and best-in-class manufacturing practices.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support customers, industry events, HQ meetings, product development activities, and technical initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product and technology strategies for Turning and Milling products based on customer requirements, industry trends, competitive positioning, manufacturing technology, and business opportunities.
  • Conduct technical and competitive research to evaluate machine tool technologies, competitor products, customer applications, manufacturing trends, and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities and risks for future product development.
  • Engage directly with customers, distributors, sales teams, and application engineers to understand application requirements, customer pain points, performance expectations, and unmet market needs.
  • Translate customer and market requirements into technical product requirements and provide recommendations to R&D, engineering, and global product development teams.
  • Evaluate existing and emerging technologies, including machine configurations, controls, automation, tooling, spindle technology, workholding, software, and other technologies that may improve machine performance and customer value.
  • Develop and maintain product and technology roadmaps, prioritizing product enhancements and development initiatives based on market demand, technical feasibility, competitive requirements, and strategic business objectives.
  • Partner with R&D, Applications Engineering, Automation, Customer Service, Sales, Marketing, and HQ to evaluate product concepts, resolve technical issues, and ensure North American market requirements are incorporated into product development.
  • Support new product introductions and product launches by providing technical product knowledge, application information, competitive positioning, training materials, and technical support to Sales, Applications Engineering, and Customer Service.
  • Evaluate product performance and market acceptance following product launches and recommend technical or product improvements based on customer feedback, competitive developments, and field performance.
  • Analyze the economic and technical impact of product decisions, including supplier capabilities, tooling requirements, component costs, lead times, machine configurations, and manufacturing considerations.
  • Support product portfolio optimization by evaluating product performance, competitive positioning, application suitability, and opportunities for product standardization, enhancement, or replacement.
  • Maintain strong relationships with global HQ engineering and product development teams and represent North American customer and market requirements during global product strategy and development discussions.
  • Participate in industry events, customer visits, technical conferences, and professional networks to maintain current knowledge of manufacturing technologies, machine tool applications, and best-in-class industry practices.
  • Prepare technical presentations, product evaluations, competitive analyses, and recommendations for senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert for assigned product lines and provide guidance to Sales, Applications Engineering, Customer Service, and other internal stakeholders.
