Senior Product Scientist

Datavant
•$140,000 - $175,000

About The Position

Datavant is a healthcare data collaboration platform that provides data solutions to providers, health plans, researchers, and life sciences companies. The Senior Product Scientist contributes to multiple product pods building and deploying scientific agents across the real-world evidence (RWE) study workflow. Working with the Director of Product Science, this role helps ensure that Datavant Life Sciences’ RWE and data discovery agents are scientifically credible and rigorous, meet customer needs, and comply with the science team’s standards. The role contributes to agent conceptualization, scientific problem statements, task definition and boundaries, workflow design and subject matter expert review points, reference sets and agent context, evaluation design and application, and internal testing. Its scope includes agents for pharmacoepidemiology and RWE tasks, as well as end-to-end RWE study agent systems. The scientist also contributes subject matter expertise to product and roadmap governance, including evaluation sets and agent performance metrics, and advises on scientific workflows relevant to agents and agent systems. The Product Scientist serves as study lead for scientific delivery in agent co-build, co-development, and co-design partnerships with Datavant’s pharmaceutical and data ecosystem customers. This includes embedding scientific standards and subject matter expertise into contracted work, which may involve designing customer-specific agentic RWE workflows, applying workflows to customer SOPs, developing customer-specific agents for RWE tasks, and evaluating those agents.

  • Candidates with a master’s degree should have at least 2 years of professional research experience for Senior Scientist consideration or 4 years for Associate Director consideration.
  • Experience using healthcare data to conduct pharmacoepidemiology, HEOR, or RWE research.
  • Knowledge of feasibility assessment, observational study design, data analysis, and principled application of research methods to generate RWE.
  • Ability to design studies, draft protocols, document methodological decisions, and work with research and analytics colleagues to implement studies.
  • Strong scientific writing and communication skills, including preparing protocols, results presentations, and reports; interpreting findings; and explaining study strengths and limitations.
  • Strong critical thinking, organization, attention to detail, and commitment to scientific quality.
  • Experience leveraging AI tools, including agents or LLMs, for scientific work products and fluency in basic AI terminology.
