About The Position

The Senior Product Owner drives business value by building, managing, and maintaining product backlogs in collaboration with IT teams. The role represents the business to the team, defines business value and project scope, establishes acceptance criteria, and helps shape product direction through feature creation, user-story writing, and collaborative innovation sessions such as Joint Application Development (JAD). The position leads product backlog definition with Business Analysts, Architects, Technologists, subject-matter experts, and business owners. It develops product roadmaps, turns product vision into epics and features, partners with Business Analysts to create user stories, and reviews and prioritizes backlogs with business owners. The Product Owner determines acceptance criteria and may accept or reject development-team deliverables, and is accountable for the success of the product or component within their purview. The role also guides Business Analysts in breaking down the Minimum Viable Product into user stories, advises the Scrum Master on grooming-session improvements, and engages clients, business partners, stakeholders, and customers as needed. It supports agile delivery and team development through coaching, mentoring, and fostering a feedback culture. The position has no direct reports but may guide and mentor less experienced staff and lead matrixed resources.
