Senior Product Marketing Manager, Global Monitoring Services

PlanetSan Francisco, CA
$144,500 - $180,600Hybrid

About The Position

Planet is looking for a Senior Product Marketing Manager to lead marketing for their Global Monitoring Solutions. This portfolio serves defense, intelligence, and government customers who need to understand what is changing across large areas over time — built on Planet's daily broad area monitoring and pattern of life analysis. This role requires a deep understanding of the mission and the people involved, including intelligence analysts, operations managers, and senior political and military leadership, to shape messaging and inform the product roadmap. The position involves close partnership with Industry Marketing, Product, Sales, and Enablement, acting as a translator between technology and the mission. This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in the San Francisco or Washington, D.C. office.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of relevant product marketing experience with a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in B2G or B2B categories, demonstrating a strong understanding of how government and defense customers evaluate, procure, and decide.
  • Track record of engaging hard-to-reach buyers with modern storytelling — video, customer-led narrative, formats built for how people actually consume content — and ability to tell a compelling story inside the constraints this market comes with.
  • An AI-native builder mindset; actively leverage AI tools in day-to-day workflow to generate messaging, build solutions, and accelerate execution.
  • Track record positioning and marketing B2B/enterprise products, specifically bringing zero-to-one AI or highly technical SaaS products to market.
  • Experience partnering with product, sales, and executive stakeholders and communicating across leadership.
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-starter with ability to collaborate across departments.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with maritime domain awareness, ISR, GEOINT, or persistent monitoring mission areas.
  • Proven ability to articulate complex technological futures and translate them into deeply penetrating product-market fit.
  • Experience working with international sales teams
  • Geospatial expertise

Responsibilities

  • Own the marketing plan for solutions already in the market, and lead strategy and launch for new ones, partnering with Marketing, Sales, and Enablement across the lifecycle.
  • Develop the value proposition, messaging frameworks, and ICPs that align GTM teams and speak to customers in language they can relate to.
  • Show how these solutions fit together and connect to the rest of Planet, maintaining clarity as the portfolio grows.
  • Continuously assess and improve positioning, campaigns, content, and sales effectiveness in close partnership with GTM teams.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Product, bringing customer, competitive, and market insight to sharpen how Planet competes.
  • Build deep knowledge of the portfolio — how analysis is produced and delivered, integration paths into customer workflows, and the roadmap — to explain it clearly to customer-facing teams.
  • Maintain a library of product assets — solution briefs, pitch decks, battlecards, objection handling, customer vignettes, and narrative-driven collateral — that are current, compelling, and highly usable for customer-facing teams.
