About The Position

Microsoft is seeking a Senior Product Manager to build and ship search experiences used in Microsoft Copilot and other apps. The role owns important search initiatives from early concept through launch, translating strategy into plans, requirements, and customer-facing products. The Product Manager coordinates complex work across engineering, data science, research, design, platform teams, and partners; resolves dependencies and blockers; makes tradeoffs; and measures product impact after launch to guide continued improvements. The position calls for a builder who can create momentum and structure across cross-team work, engage technically with engineers on systems and architecture, and focus on delivery and customer outcomes. Experience with search, information retrieval, or AI-powered experiences is valuable. The role also contributes to an inclusive, collaborative culture through influence, clear communication, coaching, and follow-through.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience in product/service/program management or software development, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience working training/evaluating search/information retrieval systems as a Product Manager, Software Developer, or Data Scientist.
  • Experience with search, retrieval, ranking, or recommendation systems, or large language model (LLM)-powered experiences.
  • Solid technical depth, including comfort with system architecture and APIs and the ability to engage closely with engineering and data science.
  • A track record of shipping complex, cross-team products or features at scale, from early concept to general availability.

Responsibilities

  • Translate team priorities into clear requirements, user stories, and success criteria, and take features from concept through private preview, public preview, and general availability.
  • Drive the roadmap across organizational boundaries, prioritize the backlog, align with engineering on tradeoffs, identify dependencies, and resolve difficult tradeoffs with peers.
  • Coordinate across feature teams, platform teams, and partners; identify risks, remove blockers, and ensure work fits together across the technology stack.
  • Define release criteria and lead scenario walkthroughs to identify problems and system friction before customers do.
  • Ensure experiences meet quality, security, privacy, and responsible AI standards.
  • Define success metrics for AI-powered search, including relevance and precision/recall, alongside engagement and satisfaction measures.
  • Ensure appropriate telemetry is in place before launch.
  • Use technical knowledge of APIs, infrastructure, and AI models to form hypotheses, run experiments and A/B tests, and drive measurable improvements after launch.
  • Use customer feedback, telemetry, and direct engagement to assess releases and guide subsequent improvements.
  • Establish and run planning, status, review, and release processes that keep teams aligned, accountable, and moving quickly.
  • Use AI tools, agents, and automated workflows to speed up specifications, prototyping, analysis, and status tracking, combining AI output with human judgment.
  • Lead through influence by aligning engineering, data science, research, and design partners around shared goals and commitments.
  • Communicate progress, risks, tradeoffs, and results clearly to stakeholders at every level.
  • Coach and mentor peers, share learnings, and help build an inclusive, collaborative culture.
