Senior Product Manager, Sports

Chartmetric•San Mateo, CA
•$130,000 - $150,000

About The Position

Chartmetric is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own its sports product and translate the company’s data and AI capabilities into products sports marketers, agencies, teams, and brands rely on. The role works closely with the CPO, data engineering and product teams, and go-to-market leads to determine what to build, why, and in what order, with accountability for product usage and revenue. This is a hands-on builder role. The Senior Product Manager works closely with customers and data, prototypes ideas when useful, and participates throughout discovery, launch, and iteration. The role focuses on understanding sports fandom, audiences, and marketing; music-industry knowledge is not required.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience.
  • Experience taking products from idea through launch to real adoption.
  • SQL skills or the ability to work with someone who writes SQL.
  • Workflow automation experience, including with Python or vibe-coding tools.
  • Experience with web apps and data visualization.
  • Ability to prototype, query data, and use AI tools to work efficiently.
  • Strong customer judgment and ability to synthesize interviews, usage data, sales feedback, market research, and industry trends, including conflicting signals.
  • Knowledge of sports and how teams, leagues, athletes, agencies, and brands think about audiences and measure value.
  • Ability to work with analytics and engineering teams on data collection and modeling, and to identify when data does not make sense.
  • Comfort working in a lean company where product leaders stay close to execution.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or managing sports products, ideally in sports marketing, sponsorship, audience analytics, fan engagement, or fandom.
  • Experience with data or analytics products, B2B SaaS, social and audience data, or AI-native products.

Responsibilities

  • Own the sports product vision, strategy, and roadmap; prioritize target customers and problems.
  • Synthesize insights from customer calls, sales conversations, support tickets, product usage, churn, market trends, and competitors to make product decisions.
  • Shape how athlete, team, and league audiences, fan engagement, social growth, and brand affinity are measured and surfaced for sports marketers and partners.
  • Build functional prototypes, internal tools, and demos with AI coding tools; validate ideas with customers and engineers before committing the team to development.
  • Query and analyze datasets, build analyses and dashboards, define product metrics, and partner with data engineering on data collection and modeling.
  • Conduct product discovery with teams, agencies, brands, and athlete representatives; measure adoption of early versions and iterate.
  • Partner with sales and marketing on product positioning, pricing, packaging, and launches; help clarify buyers, purchasing motivations, and deal-winning factors.
  • Define business and product metrics, report progress and risks, and help leadership understand sports growth opportunities and requirements.
