Senior Product Manager, Invest

Rocket Money•New York, WA

About The Position

Rocket Money is hiring a Senior Product Manager to build a new investing product from 0→1 and grow it into a core part of the company’s future. The role leads a small product team alongside engineering and UX to uncover member needs, test assumptions, find product-market fit, and create a simple, trustworthy experience. The product manager shapes strategy, sets priorities, and owns outcomes from discovery through launch and scale, with the goal of improving members’ financial lives and building a sustainable business. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the Group Product Manager, Financial Products, and working closely with the Vice President of Financial Products and senior leadership. The role partners with engineering, design, data, operations, marketing, finance, legal, compliance, and external financial partners. It combines strategic judgment with hands-on execution across roadmap development, customer discovery, integrations, and activation and retention analysis.

Requirements

  • Proven ownership of the full product lifecycle, from identifying customer problems through discovery, design, development, launch, and iteration, with high-quality experiences and measurable business results.
  • Experience building new products from scratch, including clarifying an ambiguous opportunity, testing assumptions, defining an MVP, and iterating toward product-market fit.
  • Experience building consumer financial products in a regulated environment and interest in improving people’s financial lives.
  • Ability to learn quickly, synthesize complex information into clear decisions, and update views as evidence changes.
  • Ability to uncover customer needs through research and data, simplify complex experiences, and decide what to build and what not to build.
  • Strategic and analytical thinking, including translating customer insights, product data, and business economics into clear priorities amid incomplete information.
  • Clear communication, cross-functional alignment, ability to navigate disagreement, and leadership without formal authority.
  • Technical fluency and confidence partnering with engineering on APIs, integrations, and edge cases.
  • Interest in AI and daily use of AI tools to learn and ship faster, with sound judgment about when to rely on tools versus personal expertise.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building investing products.
  • Experience working at a fast-growing startup.

Responsibilities

  • Understand members’ financial lives, goals, and unmet needs through customer research, behavioral data, and market insights.
  • Define the initial target audience, the product’s value proposition, and how it fits into members’ broader financial journeys.
  • Develop an evidence-backed product strategy, priorities, and decisions about what not to build.
  • Define a focused MVP and lead product development from discovery and prototyping through launch.
  • Partner with design and engineering to test risky assumptions before committing to a full build, and make trade-offs among speed, scope, quality, and risk.
  • Shape the end-to-end member experience, including product discovery, onboarding, regular use, and communicating value.
  • Coordinate with operations, marketing, and support on launch readiness, member education, workflows, and phased rollout.
  • Work as a product trio with engineering and UX to identify customer problems, test solutions, and build products; own quality and outcomes from discovery through iteration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and senior leaders to turn complex financial workflows into simple experiences and make day-to-day decisions about scope, behavior, and trade-offs.
  • Own post-launch activation, engagement, retention, and business growth, using measures that reflect genuine member value.
  • Identify barriers to adoption and ongoing value, and partner with relevant teams to test and scale improvements.
  • Instrument the product experience, analyze funnels and cohorts, and use experiments and qualitative feedback to decide what to improve, scale, or stop.
  • Keep the team and leadership aligned on learnings, changes, and the reasons behind them.
