About The Position

PayPal, Inc. seeks a Senior Product Manager in Chicago, IL. This role involves capturing and analyzing data flows to determine enterprise data impacts, supporting business units in documenting requirements and data mappings, and communicating success criteria to development and testing teams. The Senior Product Manager will lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and support of new data management and governance technologies, define and promote enterprise data management practices, and monitor business unit progress towards data management objectives. The role also includes supporting Global Data Governance forums, collaborating with data stewards and stakeholders to understand business impacts and requirements, and ensuring data management activities align with business objectives. Additionally, the Senior Product Manager will support the integration of PayPal’s data governance into existing processes (PDLC, SDLC, Architecture Review, Risk Control) and provide end-to-end data governance coverage to achieve adoption of processes, standards, and practices. A key responsibility is owning the alignment of business units’ data stewardship functions with the enterprise data management program to facilitate data ownership and accountability, and implementing procedures, processes, artifacts, documents, and training materials for the Data Stewardship Program. Building strong, collaborative relationships across organizations through proactive planning and decisive leadership is essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Systems Analysis, Engineering, or a closely related field plus five years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
  • Experience with SQL query authoring and working with a variety of databases (5 years)
  • Experience with Master Data Management (Customer & Product) (3 years)
  • Experience with Data Risk Management and compliance (CCPA & GDPR) (3 years)
  • Sensitive Data Handling Requirements (Legal & Regulatory) (5 years)
  • Experience with data management and data governance tools such as Collibra or similar catalog tools
  • Experience with payments or banking platforms and products

Nice To Haves

  • Certified with Cloud Services (AWS or GCP)

Responsibilities

  • Capture documentation and analysis of data flows and traceability from end-to-end, with a goal of determining enterprise data impacts.
  • Support business units in articulating and documenting requirements and data mappings for enterprise data management processes and capabilities.
  • Effectively communicate success criteria to the data management development and testing teams.
  • Lead evaluation, selection, implementation, and support of new data management and governance technologies to support data stewardship, data quality, metadata management, data architecture, data modeling and data integration efforts.
  • Define and promote new enterprise data management practices.
  • Monitor and track business unit’s progress towards data management and governance Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Support all activities associated with the various Global Data Governance forums.
  • Work with business and technical data Stewards and key business stakeholders to understand business impacts, user requirements, and the feasibility of data management solutions.
  • Ensure that all data management and governance activities within the Business Unit are in line with the overall business objectives and make sure that Data Governance is included in project implementation.
  • Support integration of PayPal’s data governance into existing processes - PDLC, SDLC, Architecture Review and Risk Control Processes.
  • Provide end-to-end data governance coverage across business functions to achieve adoption of data governance process, standards, and practices, and business value.
  • Own alignment of business units’ data stewardship function with enterprise data management program to facilitate data ownership and accountability.
  • Implement data governance procedures, processes, artifacts, documents, and training materials required to operate the Data Stewardship Program.
