About The Position

Ellevation Education is seeking a Senior Product Manager for its Data Ingest team. This role is crucial as the company transitions from a collection of data ingestion tools to a unified, scalable ingest engine to support its ELD software used by nearly 2,000 districts. The Senior Product Manager will lead the development of tooling to bring rostering, EL program, and assessment data into the platform. The primary challenge involves accurately ingesting and representing imperfect raw data from various systems across numerous districts, while ensuring this data effectively powers downstream customer workflows. This role requires a blend of technical fluency, a data-driven mindset, and strong collaboration skills to manage stakeholders and complex data pipelines. The position reports to a VP of Product and works closely with Engineering and Data Operations teams.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years relevant experience, including at least 3 years in product management.
  • Passion for data and data workflows.
  • Experience with ETL data pipelines, data mapping and transformation.
  • Comfort digging into technical details to troubleshoot or understand data flow impact on downstream users.
  • Demonstrated success leading highly technical ETL teams.
  • Deep interest in how things work; ability to dig into technical concepts, explore systems impact, and weigh tradeoffs.
  • Evidence-driven and curious mindset.
  • Genuine interest in understanding problems faced by internal users and customers.
  • Ability to leverage direct user discovery and run data analyses.
  • AI-fluent: experience using AI tools for data analysis, prototyping, or documentation.
  • Effective in cross-functional teams; ability to work well with a wide variety of people.
  • Experience leading and managing senior cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Ability to articulate the 'why' behind decisions and translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Treat enablement as a core part of the job.
  • Organized and dependable; follow through on commitments, flag risks and questions early, and deliver reliably.
  • Strong learner; actively learn from experience, solicit and apply feedback quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Related experience in data engineering, business intelligence, or analytics.
  • Experience in education, working with multilingual learner communities, or a meaningful connection to the mission.
  • Capable of querying data (SQL or similar) to investigate a problem or support a decision.
  • Comfort in a cloud data warehouse like Snowflake.
  • Basic data modeling familiarity (schemas, relationships between datasets, identifiers, and downstream data dependencies).
  • Experience with SIS (student information system) data, interoperability standards (OneRoster or similar), or hands-on experience with rostering platforms like Clever or ClassLink.
  • Exposure to internal tooling in enterprise B2B SaaS.
  • Familiarity with product discovery methods: user interviews, lightweight prototyping, structured experimentation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a product leader for Data Ingest, building tooling to bring rostering, EL program, and assessment data from various systems into the platform.
  • Accurately ingest imperfect raw data and represent it effectively across 2,000 districts.
  • Reimagine technically complex, high-stakes data pipelines while ensuring ingested data powers downstream customer workflows.
  • Build an independent, evidence-grounded understanding of key challenges and business context in the data ingest domain.
  • Establish high-trust relationships with the DevPro team, Data Operations, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Understand Ellevation's product development approach, including Shape Up methodology, discovery, appetite, and scope.
  • Develop expertise in the product's extract/transform/load (ETL) architecture and troubleshoot product questions.
  • Understand the users, their problems, and their importance to the business.
  • Contribute to user research, data analysis, problem framing, and enablement efforts.
  • Take full accountability for product success from idea to launch.
  • Proactively drive product learning through user research, data analysis, and hypothesis testing.
  • Lead the team in working backwards from outcomes, managing risks and dependencies, and driving execution.
  • Drive go-to-market delivery, ensuring internal teams are trained and adopt releases.
  • Develop a clear point of view on opportunities within the owned problem space.
  • Contribute to shaping product pitches with leadership.
  • Build and sustain influence with senior stakeholders, evangelizing product bets, surfacing tradeoffs, and developing alignment.
  • Use expertise and context to drive the team forward, anticipate tradeoffs, and identify new opportunities for ingest investments.
  • Transform ambiguous problems in the data ingest domain into successful outcomes.
  • Influence and elevate others across the organization, collaborating to solve problems and raising the bar for Product in technically complex domains.
