About The Position

As a Senior Product Manager at Big Ideas Learning, you will lead strategic initiatives, drive the product definition, development, and maintenance stages of the program/product lifecycle. You will be an influential team member who will mentor fellow team members on standard processes, best practices, and strategic/complex job-related decision making. You will co-lead the strategic planning, publishing/release plans, and discovery phases for new products. You will be responsible for, and/or have oversight of, defining product features, supporting Go To Market teams to prepare for submissions, launches, and back-to-school campaigns, and advising/aiding in the maintenance of products/systems to optimize market share and create transition plans for product retirement. As a Senior Product Manager, you will actively encourage and model collaboration within/across BIL teams and with partner teams, such as external implementation and sales teams. You will lead discussions and make/encourage decisions about content, design, digital features, print materials, marketing strategies, and product updates. You will be responsible for gathering the information needed to drive informed decisions for products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (significant, related experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree)
  • Experience in K – 12 educational market
  • 5+ years of experience in product management of print and digital products/applications
  • Experienced and informed decision maker
  • Ability to collect, analyze, summarize, and synthesize data from various sources, create cohesive, sound, and effective solutions, and communicate to all levels of an organization
  • Experienced team player, effective team leader; able to collaborate with a variety of professionals
  • Experience advocating for change/new ideas; especially with executive leaders and/or board members.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; excellent presentation skills
  • Must be willing to travel; approximately 30%

Responsibilities

  • Model and execute Product Management for educational program(s).
  • Advocate for, define, communicate, and drive product development strategy.
  • Collaborate to develop strategic plans, define roadmaps, and oversee execution of product development to meet roadmaps.
  • Define templates and processes for creation of product specifications and configurations.
  • Develop storyboards, plan prototype development, and engage creative/design/technology teams to collaborate on deliverables.
  • Define and communicate product requirements (components, standards, digital features, print books, etc.) to all stakeholders including executives and board members.
  • Verify and/or facilitate verification that final products meet all requirements (print and digital).
  • Take an active leadership role in the prioritization of development backlogs, identification of risks, and creation of plans to mitigate risk.
  • Coordinate, facilitate, and moderate advisory groups.
  • Coordinate with Product Marketing and Go to Market teams to maximize exposure quality and potential.
  • Collaborate with and share cross-functional leadership support with internal Project Management, Creative, Production, Technology, Research and Instructional Design teams.
  • Provide market differentiators, product overview presentations, summaries, and feature lists to Go to Market teams.
  • Research new and existing developments and products in the mathematics market space.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge and understanding of best practices outlined in the latest educational research; attend professional conferences.
  • Mentor other staff by sharing skills, training, and sharing experiences.
  • Actively pursue, with cross-functional leadership, the prioritization of development plans and backlogs, as well as identifying risks and helping create plans for mitigations.
  • Advocate for BIL values and mission in organizational and cross-functional settings.
  • Perform other role related duties as assigned.
