About The Position

The Senior Product Manager, Telepresence will manage da Vinci® Telepresence products across the entire product lifecycle. This role involves developing and conducting market and user research, making product proposals, writing product requirements, and leading the product through development and design stages. The individual will collaborate with product marketing for successful launches and provide ongoing expertise. Partnership with design and engineering teams, along with other internal stakeholders, is crucial throughout the product lifecycle to ensure successful product launch and adoption. In the first year, responsibilities include assisting in managing the Telepresence product roadmap and lifecycle in alignment with broader platform objectives, developing business justifications for recommendations, and gaining stakeholder alignment on project prioritization. The role will focus on the development of the Intuitive Telepresence Application on mobile devices. Key activities include developing business justifications for new products and features through customer and stakeholder engagement, conducting competitive assessments, and using qualitative and quantitative market research to inform the product roadmap. Refining requirements with feedback from customers, clinical sales, and engineering, and leading cross-functional product teams are essential. The role requires representing product management in the development process, completing deliverables like market and product requirements documents, and facilitating tradeoff discussions. Engagement with Human Factors and Interaction Design partners, conveying the product value proposition to global marketing, and measuring product success through adoption monitoring and feedback are also key. A deep understanding of surgical treatments, monitoring clinical literature, attending medical meetings, and engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) is expected. Collaborating on global product commercialization plans, understanding competitive and emerging technologies, and evaluating new technologies with business development teams are also part of the role. Monitoring and prioritizing product quality issues, working on cross-functional teams to resolve issues, and participating in product education program development and sustaining product activities are also required.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum 4 or more years professional experience in product management, marketing, sales, customer service, engineering, operations, logistics, or equivalent role.
  • Demonstrated interest in healthcare, hospital operations and medical devices.
  • Good written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a clear, concise, professional manner.
  • Excellent teamwork skills with proven ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines to ensure product success and ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • This includes the ability to lead in bridging communication between engineering, design, marketing, sales, and customers.
  • Presentation skills to internal & external audiences including leaders at the VP level.
  • Self-directed with awareness to proactively seek advice when needed.
  • Quantitative mindset, proven ability to investigate open-ended problems and work cross-functionally to implement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work creatively amidst competing priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize and smoothly manage multiple competing deadlines and tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of the MS Office product suite.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%, including international.

Responsibilities

  • Manage da Vinci® Telepresence products across the entire product lifecycle.

  • Develop business justification for recommendations and gain alignment across key stakeholders on project prioritization.
  • Develop the business justification for new products and features by working with customers and company stakeholders.
  • Develop business analyses, including competitive assessments, to facilitate sound data-driven decision making.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative market research methods and direct customer interviews and observations to develop insights that inform the product roadmap.
  • Refine requirements with feedback from customers, clinical sales and clinical development engineering.
  • Lead cross-functional product teams including engineering, sales and marketing to execute against the product plan.
  • Represent product management in the product development process, complete deliverables such as market requirements and product requirements documents and facilitate tradeoff discussions with design teams while keeping the needs of the customer and the business in mind.
  • Engage with Human Factors and Interaction Design partners during the development process by establishing design requirements, prioritizing design efforts, coordinating design reviews, and documenting and communicating design decisions.
  • Convey product value proposition to global marketing for global product positioning and messaging.
  • Measure product success by monitoring product adoption and seeking post-launch product feedback.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the surgical treatments for applicable indications, including monitoring and consuming clinical literature, attending medical society meetings and engaging with physician key opinion leaders (KOLs).
  • Collaboratively develop global product commercialization plans with regional marketing and commercial teams.
  • Understand competitive, emerging and complementary technology and its potential impact on Intuitive’s product lines.
  • Work with the product engineering and business development teams to evaluate new technologies and prioritize the new business development pipeline.
  • Monitor and prioritize product quality issues.
  • Work on cross-functional teams to resolve product issues and critical customer issues.
  • Conduct additional activities across the product lifecycle as needed including, participating in product education program development and supporting sustaining product activities including end of life.
