About The Position

Healthie is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the development of systems that enable healthcare organizations to get paid by insurers efficiently. The role focuses on building a product where billing serves care delivery, ensuring transparency for practices and patients. This position involves owning the entire financial lifecycle of a visit, from coverage confirmation to final payment collection, within the Healthie platform. The Senior Product Manager will be the founding product manager for a squad dedicated to optimizing insurer payments, aiming to minimize human effort in the claims process. This includes ensuring claims are submitted cleanly, rejections are managed proactively, and the next steps for denied claims are clear. The goal is to provide practices with a seamless billing experience, akin to having a dedicated billing team. This is a multi-year charter with significant impact, requiring strategic decisions that will shape the product for years to come. The role operates at the intersection of complex healthcare domains, an API-first platform, and direct customer financial impact. Candidates should be adept at handling intricate details, ensuring accuracy, and building robust foundational systems. Healthie utilizes AI-enabled and AI-accelerated development practices, and the ideal candidate will leverage AI tools to enhance velocity and quality.

Requirements

At least 5 years of experience in product management.
2 or more years owning systems where correctness has financial or regulatory consequences.
Direct, hands-on experience in healthcare revenue cycle management.
Understanding of the end-to-end claim lifecycle, payer behavior, claim rejections vs. denials, remittance and adjustment data, and patient responsibility determination.
Experience owning a product roadmap and making prioritization decisions based on evidence and customer input.
Strong systems thinking ability, including identifying edge cases and reasoning about system failures.
Technical fluency, including reading API documentation and participating in design tradeoff conversations.
AI fluency, including using modern AI tools and critically evaluating their output.
Decisiveness, with the ability to act on incomplete information and state assumptions clearly.
Experience in sequencing product development, including delivering value from foundational rewrites or migrations before completion.
Excellent communication skills, able to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with clearinghouses or building directly to X12 transaction sets (e.g., 837 claims, 835 remittance, 270/271 eligibility).
Depth of experience in behavioral health, nutrition, or other specialties that bill outside of a hospital setting.
Experience with coordination of benefits, secondary claims, or corrections and appeals.
Experience building revenue cycle products on an API or platform.
Depth in an adjacent money-moving domain such as fintech, insurance, or marketplace payouts.

Responsibilities

Own the product strategy and roadmap for how healthcare practices get paid by insurers with minimal human effort.
Develop and launch features that ensure claims are submitted cleanly by catching problems before submission.
Implement systems to proactively manage claim statuses, rework rejections, and provide clear next steps for denied claims.
Collaborate with third-party billing partners to streamline healthcare billing at scale.
Define and drive foundational product decisions that will have long-term impact.
Work closely with engineering teams to design and implement robust, scalable solutions.
Gather customer feedback and insights to inform product development.
Leverage AI-powered development tools and promote AI-assisted engineering practices.
