$160,000 - $180,000Remote

About The Position

Versapay is seeking a Senior Product Manager specializing in Platform & Data Strategy. This role requires a product leader with expertise in systems thinking, platform engineering, and data architecture, capable of driving alignment across various teams. The position is crucial for shaping how data becomes a strategic asset and for evolving the product's architecture from a decomposing monolith to a modern microservices approach. The hire will act as a liaison between product, architecture, engineering, and analytics teams.

Requirements

  • 5-8+ years of product management experience, with significant time in platform, infrastructure, or API-focused product roles.
  • Deep technical fluency to engage credibly with architecture and engineering on microservices patterns, API design, and distributed systems tradeoffs.
  • Demonstrated experience with data strategy in a product context (data pipelines, data warehousing, or data product development).
  • Track record of influencing without authority across engineering, data, and business teams.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity and building structure where little exists.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Snowflake or comparable cloud data platforms in a product or strategy capacity.
  • Familiarity with data monetization, data sharing, or partner data product models, particularly with FIs or ERP ecosystem partners.
  • Experience with API governance, API versioning strategies, or developer platform products.
  • Background in fintech, B2B SaaS, or collaborative commerce platforms.
  • Exposure to regulatory and compliance considerations around data sharing (SOC 2, data residency, financial data regulations).

Responsibilities

  • Define the vision and roadmap for platform-level microservices, including identifying capabilities for platform services versus evolving existing module-specific implementations.
  • Own the API contract strategy, establishing standards for versioning, backward compatibility, and breaking change governance.
  • Establish principles and a governance model for backporting module-level services into shared platform services.
  • Lead net-new platform service builds in partnership with architecture and engineering, from discovery through adoption.
  • Champion developer experience by ensuring internal engineering teams have necessary documentation, contracts, and tooling.
  • Partner with Analytics and Architecture to define and evolve the Snowflake lakehouse strategy, incorporating product and commercial context.
  • Own the data product identification process, determining which enriched datasets are monetizable and valuable to partners.
  • Define data governance requirements for regulated partner use cases, including data lineage, access controls, residency, and consent.
  • Work with commercial and partnerships teams to translate data product identification into viable partner offerings.
  • Serve as the product voice in platform performance and reliability workstreams, ensuring prioritization reflects business impact.
  • Build line of sight into end-of-month latency, load, and scalability gaps, pushing for honest diagnosis and remediation.
  • Define product requirements for international expansion readiness, including multi-geography, multi-currency, and increased volume support.
  • Build credibility and trust with engineering and architecture leaders.
  • Drive cultural change around platform-first thinking without direct authority.
  • Maintain executive alignment and surface honest performance signals.
