Senior Product Manager, Mobile

Apptegy
$140,000 - $175,000

About The Position

At Apptegy, we are more than a tech company; we are partners dedicated to transforming how schools communicate and shape the future of education. Your work here will directly empower districts to share their stories, engage their communities, and celebrate student success. We're a team of thoughtful, high-performing individuals committed to making a tangible impact. If you're looking for a dynamic environment where you'll be supported with exceptional mentorship and resources to grow your career, come build with us. As Senior Product Manager, Mobile, you’ll own the product direction for Apptegy’s School App and Staff App, two of the primary ways families and school staff connect with their districts. You’ll partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, Sales, and Client Experience to create intuitive, reliable mobile experiences for diverse school communities. This role sits at the intersection of product strategy, technical clarity, customer outcomes, and delivery excellence. District configurations can vary based on package, organizational structure, and user role. You’ll help turn complex and sometimes undocumented behavior into precise, testable specifications so product decisions are clear, consistent, and verifiable. You’ll also help close the gap between completed code and software in users’ hands. That includes navigating app store review, release hardening, staged rollouts, and version fragmentation while helping the team advance AI-assisted workflows across the delivery pipeline.

Requirements

  • Significant experience leading product for native iOS and Android applications through multiple release cycles. This role requires more than responsive web experience.
  • Experience owning product for multiple teams with distinct roadmaps and a shared platform.
  • Experience leading product through significant technical change, such as a re-platform, architectural migration, or modernization effort, while continuing to deliver for customers.
  • The ability to write product specifications that are precise enough to be executed and verified by an engineer, QA partner, or AI agent.
  • Practical experience using AI in the delivery pipeline, such as generating acceptance criteria, deriving behavior from an existing codebase, or automating parts of review. You understand the importance of evaluating AI output rather than accepting it without review.
  • A strong understanding of CI/CD and mobile release mechanics, including build pipelines, feature flags, automated testing, phased rollouts, and version management.
  • Analytical self-sufficiency, including the ability to write queries, interpret product analytics, and use data to make product decisions.
  • Clear communication and strong influence across technical, creative, commercial, and executive audiences.
  • Sound judgment regarding responsible AI use, including privacy, security, accuracy, transparency, and human oversight.
  • Experience partnering effectively with Engineering and Design in an agile product development environment.
  • A commitment to designing intuitive, accessible, and reliable experiences for diverse school communities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building products for K-12 education, public-sector organizations, communication platforms, SaaS, or other mission-driven environments.
  • Experience owning products used by multiple audiences, including administrators, educators, students, families, and community members.
  • Product-side experience with cross-platform mobile frameworks.
  • Deep familiarity with the iOS and Android ecosystems, including app release processes, push notifications, authentication, accessibility, and mobile analytics.
  • Experience treating accessibility as an ongoing product and engineering program, including automated checks in CI.
  • A track record of improving mobile adoption, engagement, retention, or app store ratings through product strategy and execution.
  • Experience conducting customer research with school districts or other complex, distributed organizations.
  • Experience working with distributed or partner engineering teams.
  • A bachelor’s degree in product management, business, technology, education, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Willingness to travel periodically for customer research, team meetings, company events, or industry conferences.

Responsibilities

  • Own the roadmap, prioritization, and sequencing for the School App and Staff App, including where the products should evolve together and where they require distinct strategies.
  • Turn configuration, entitlement, and role-based behavior into clear specifications that engineers, designers, QA partners, and AI tools can execute and verify.
  • Build a deep understanding of school districts, educators, students, families, and staff, and translate those insights into meaningful mobile experiences.
  • Lead product discovery by combining customer research, product analytics, feedback, market context, and business impact.
  • Partner with Engineering and Design from early concept through launch, balancing customer value, product quality, technical feasibility, and delivery speed.
  • Own the product considerations associated with mobile release mechanics, including app store review, release hardening, staged rollouts, and version fragmentation.
  • Bring mobile constraints into cross-functional planning early so teams can set realistic timelines and make informed product decisions.
  • Advance AI-assisted delivery practices by writing specifications that AI agents can execute against and helping the team use CI to generate and verify acceptance criteria.
  • Define success metrics and monitor product performance across activation, engagement, retention, adoption, satisfaction, and app store ratings.
  • Create effective customer feedback and learning loops that continuously improve the mobile experience.
