About The Position

As a Senior Product Manager on the Near Aircraft team, you will help build the maintenance software products that ensure every aircraft is maintained with the precision and traceability required for aerospace certification—and ultimately, for safe commercial operations. Our Near Aircraft - Edge Applications group owns the systems that sit closest to Joby's physical operations: charging infrastructure, maintenance tooling, and situational awareness. This role focuses specifically on maintenance, owning software products for MRO platform configuration, maintenance, training, and integrations. You'll operate at the intersection of software and aviation operations. Your work will directly impact Joby's path to certification and our ability to launch and scale a reliable air taxi service.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in technical environments, with demonstrated ownership of complex, cross-functional products.
  • Deep experience with MRO systems, maintenance software, or operations platforms (e.g., IFS, SAP PM, Maximo, or similar). You understand how maintenance organizations actually work.
  • Strong understanding of aviation maintenance operations and regulatory frameworks (Part 121, 135, 145). You can speak fluently with A&P mechanics, maintenance controllers, and airworthiness engineers.
  • Track record of shipping products in high-stakes, fast-paced environments where quality and reliability are non-negotiable.
  • Experience managing products with significant technical dependencies and cross-system integrations.
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to dig into data, conduct root cause analysis, and make decisions with incomplete information.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management—you can align diverse teams (engineering, operations, compliance, external partners) without direct authority.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous technical role in software development, systems engineering, or implementation.
  • Experience in aerospace, aviation, or other highly regulated industries.
  • SQL proficiency for data analysis and modeling.
  • Startup or high-growth company experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product roadmap for maintenance software systems, balancing near-term operational needs (supporting flight test, certification activities) with longer-term scale requirements for commercial service.
  • Partner deeply with Maintenance, Airworthiness, and Operations teams to understand workflows, pain points, and regulatory requirements—then translate these into product priorities.
  • Drive end-to-end product delivery from discovery and requirements through implementation, launch, and iteration. You'll write PRDs, define acceptance criteria, and work hands-on with engineering throughout.
  • Navigate complex dependencies across internal systems (flight ops, manufacturing, quality) and external platforms (MRO software, OEM partners) to ensure seamless data flow and process integration.
  • Identify and resolve systemic issues by conducting root cause analysis when products or processes aren't meeting operational needs, then driving comprehensive solutions.
  • Develop success metrics and feedback loops to measure product effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage vendor relationships for maintenance software platforms, ensuring external tools meet Joby's evolving requirements.
  • Ensure data integrity and operational accuracy across maintenance systems, including aircraft status boards, logbooks, and computerized maintenance tracking. Own reporting workflows and partner with cross-functional teams to surface insights and support operational decision-making.

Benefits

  • Joby also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including paid time off, healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan with a company match, an employee stock purchase plan (ESPP), short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, and more.
