About The Position

Healthie is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the billing and payments domain, focusing on what patients and practices see: invoices, statements, balances, payments, and refunds, along with the underlying ledger. The role involves building a billing system that serves care delivery, ensuring every dollar is explainable to both the practice and the patient. This is a strategic, multi-year charter to make Healthie the system practices run their money on, and to enable new care models like episodes of care and value-based arrangements. The position requires deep collaboration with third-party partners in the financial ecosystem and offers a unique opportunity to work on complex problems with significant impact in healthtech.

Requirements

At least 5 years in product management.
2 or more years owning billing, payments, ledger, or other systems where correctness has financial or regulatory consequences.
Shipped products that move or account for money (e.g., billing and invoicing, payments, ledgers, subscriptions, marketplace payouts, accounting integrations).
Understanding of refund processes, reconciliation, and precise balance definition.
Experience owning a roadmap and making prioritization decisions, including refusing certain requests.
Ability to gather evidence and spend time with users to inform decisions.
Instinct for systems thinking, identifying edge cases, and reasoning from first principles about system failures.
Ability to think in objects, states, and transitions rather than just screens.
Technical fluency: ability to read API documentation, reason about system behavior, and engage in technical tradeoff discussions with engineers.
AI fluency: comfortable using modern AI tools, appropriately skeptical, and able to identify and correct AI errors.
Decisiveness: ability to act on incomplete information, state assumptions, choose a path, and define conditions for change.
Experience with sequencing foundational work into deliverable slices.
Strong communication skills: ability to explain complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Comfortable defending recommendations to executives and adapting them based on sound arguments.

Nice To Haves

Healthcare billing exposure (patient responsibility, superbills, working with revenue cycle teams).
Experience with modern payment infrastructure (Stripe, Adyen, Plaid), including disputes, refunds, payouts, and reconciliation.
Experience designing consumer-facing checkout, bill-pay, or statement experiences that improved collection rates.
Familiarity with double-entry accounting concepts or experience building products for finance team audits.
Experience building billing or payments products on an API or platform.

Responsibilities

Own the roadmap for the billing and payments area and its intended outcomes.
Determine product priorities and defend them publicly, as Healthie publishes its roadmap.
Be accountable for practices getting paid faster.
Serve as the primary point of contact for company-wide inquiries about the future of billing.
Engage directly with billers, practices, and enterprise customers to understand their needs and realities.
Translate the complexities of healthcare payments into precise specifications for engineering and automation.
Make foundational product decisions with engineering that ensure legibility and explainability of billing data.
Ship incremental product improvements that customers can immediately feel, rather than large, delayed rewrites.
Define and ensure the accuracy, auditability, and clean rollout of financial data.
Collaborate with engineering, design, QA, product marketing, and support as a unified squad.
Manage inbound requests to prevent them from dictating the roadmap.
