Senior Product Manager, Authentication

ScotiabankToronto, ON
Onsite

About The Position

We are looking for a client-first product practitioner to join our Identity and Access team as a Senior Product Manager. In this role, you will shape our digital banking authentication experiences end to end—defining secure-by-design authentication and step-up flows that gain and keep our clients’ trust, while meeting regulatory, compliance, and security requirements. You bring a deep expertise in authentication (multi-factor authentication, device binding, session management, and risk-based step-up) and in partnering on security and fraud controls to deliver experiences that are both simple and resilient. If you’re passionate about protecting clients in a rapidly evolving threat environment, this is the opportunity for you!

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product management experience shipping consumer-facing digital products end to end, from discovery through delivery and iteration.
  • Proven experience shipping authentication changes at scale (large consumer base), including rollout strategy, experimentation, and migration.
  • Knowledgeable about multiple functional areas such as product management, agile/scrum, engineering, UX/UI design.
  • Deep understanding of modern authentication and credential lifecycle, including passwordless/passkeys (FIDO2/WebAuthn), MFA, device binding, session management, and recovery flows.
  • Technically curious and able to dive into technical details, quickly building fluency in complex systems and concepts.
  • Embed privacy and security into product delivery processes and design.
  • Experience influencing others by persuasion rather than authority – making your case through excellent communication, speaking clearly to be easily understood, and writing powerfully to persuade.
  • Master of identifying and solving ambiguous problems with ability to influence and inspire a multi-disciplinary team to reach ambitious goals.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Curious and experimental mindset to drive innovation amidst uncertainty.

  • Set expectations, manage trade-offs, and communicate priorities, decisions, and progress clearly to stakeholders.
  • Work closely with business, compliance and other control functions—advocating for strong controls while pushing for the best possible client experience and business value.
  • Build reusable and scalable authentication capabilities leveraged by channels to securely sign in and step up clients.
  • Lead discovery informed by client needs and real-world threats (e.g., phishing/ATO), including failure-mode analysis (edge cases, recovery). Partner with design and engineering to define and deliver solutions.
  • Define client and business value through clear objectives and key results (OKRs), and drive executive alignment through crisp evidence-based storytelling.
  • Leverage data, behavioural analytics, and client insights to drive decisions. Build and validate product hypotheses, test, fail and iterate, and continuously improve.

  • Maintain a prioritized backlog, support clear user stories, and partner with scrum teams through planning and delivery. Engage with the scrum teams daily, unblocking decisions and ensuring outcomes stay aligned to the roadmap.
