Senior Product Designer

About The Position

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our Product team and craft an engaging experience across a complex set of payments products and features. This role involves leading end-to-end design efforts for technical B2B workflows, collaborating cross-functionally, and crafting intuitive, high-impact product experiences that balance usability, business outcomes, and technical feasibility. This will span both greenfield design (building new experiences from the ground up) and redesign work on existing Payment Gateway products. You’ll work closely with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities, deeply understand user needs, and translate insights into scalable design solutions. This role is well-suited for someone who thrives in ambiguity, is eager to bring strategic design thinking to product challenges, and wants to grow their influence in a dynamic environment. This role can be based in the US or Canada.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience designing B2B digital products and systems, with a strong portfolio showcasing your process, breadth of work, and impact.
  • Familiarity with financial products, APIs, or transaction systems, ideally payment gateways or similar B2B SaaS platforms.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally and great communication skills: you present design decisions and processes clearly and confidently, regardless of the audience.
  • Strong verbal and visual presentation skills with an articulate point of view on design decisions.
  • Strong ability to simplify complex technical/payment concepts into intuitive user experiences.
  • Proficiency in Figma and experience building and maintaining design systems.
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and their applications in general and regulated payment workflows.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., v0, Cursor, ChatGPT, Midjourney, or similar) to speed up design, prototyping, or research work — this is a required skill, not just an interest
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing, with a proven ability to translate findings into actionable designs.

Nice To Haves

  • Designing merchant, ISV, and partner-facing experiences that handle onboarding, transaction monitoring, and payment flows.
  • Understanding of technical constraints, API-driven workflows, and how to design for developer/merchant audiences.
  • Experience unifying multiple products or platforms under a cohesive design system, driving consistency and scalability across experiences.
  • Familiarity with service design techniques (e.g., journey mapping, service blueprints) and the ability to think about product design within the context of service design.

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end experiences: Create journey maps, user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that reflect both user needs and business goals.
  • Plan and conduct user research, including internal usability testing and external validation with partners and merchants, to gather insights, validate design decisions, and continuously inform product improvements.
  • Build and maintain design systems to ensure consistency, scalability, and efficiency across NMI’s products.
  • Benchmark designs against competitors in the space and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Use AI tools (e.g., v0, Cursor, Figma AI features) as a core part of your design and research workflow, to accelerate prototyping, synthesize research, and explore design variations faster.
  • Contribute to adjacent initiatives such as updating design-driven materials for customer engagement, supporting conference planning, and assisting with other special projects that elevate the Payment Gateway products.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary + bonus
  • A remote first culture!
  • Flex PTO
  • Health, Dental and Vision Insurance
  • 13 Paid Holidays
  • Company volunteer days
