About The Position

We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to help shape the next evolution of our digital ecosystem spanning customer‑facing websites and native apps, internal tools, and emerging AI‑enabled experiences for retail investors, advisors, and sales teams. This role will partner closely with product, engineering, content, brand, analytics, and marketing teams. The role blends strong visual craft with product thinking: evolving our design language, scaling our design system, and applying AI‑assisted methods to improve how we design, build, and deliver digital experiences. This is an individual contributor role with meaningful ownership and influence across multiple products and initiatives. This role reports to VP, Head of Digital and Client Experience. This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, MO office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Requirements

  • A strong portfolio demonstrating systems‑thinking, responsive web and mobile experiences, and the ability to scale design across multiple use cases, not just one‑off screens.
  • Advanced proficiency in Figma, including components, variants, auto‑layout, constraints, shared styles, design tokens, and interactive prototyping.
  • Experience creating or evolving a design system, including component libraries, patterns, usage guidance, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated comfort working in cross‑functional teams and presenting design rationale to stakeholders.
  • Practical experience using AI tools as part of the design workflow (e.g., generative visuals, copy assistance, prompt‑driven ideation, or AI‑supported prototyping).
  • Demonstrates the American Century Investments Winning Behaviors: Client Focused, Courageous and Accountable, Collaborative, Curious and Adaptable, Competitively Driven.

  • Design end‑to‑end experiences and high‑fidelity interfaces for responsive web, native apps, and internal tools—balancing marketing storytelling with task‑oriented utility.
  • Partner with product and engineering to turn strategy, requirements, and constraints into usable, shippable UI.
  • Prototype, test, and iterate quickly using interactive prototypes, usability testing, and experimentation informed by analytics and client insights.
  • Apply AI‑assisted tools and techniques thoughtfully within the design process (e.g., ideation, content generation, personalization concepts, accessibility support).
  • Contribute to design critiques, documentation, and shared standards that help raise quality and consistency across teams.
