About The Position

Semble is hiring a Senior Product Designer for its Clinical team to design intuitive, trustworthy clinical experiences that help healthcare professionals make decisions, document care and manage complex workflows. The role involves balancing innovation, usability, technical constraints and clinical safety while working closely with Product Managers, Engineers, clinicians and Clinical Safety specialists. The designer will independently own complex design challenges from discovery through delivery, influence decisions beyond their immediate workstream, and contribute to how the design team works. They will use AI and emerging technologies to explore ideas, prototype, learn faster and improve outcomes, while applying sound judgement about risk and safety. The role can be fully remote in the UK or France; the posting also describes flexibility to work across Europe and choose how often to attend an office.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing clinical systems or similarly high-risk software where errors can have significant consequences.
  • Experience working alongside safety, risk or regulatory specialists.
  • Strong UX, interaction and visual design skills, with a portfolio demonstrating complex workflows, accessible interfaces and shipped product experiences.
  • Ability to explore ambitious solutions while understanding risk, recognising trade-offs and knowing when a simpler, more predictable approach is appropriate.
  • Proven use of AI-assisted tools to improve design workflows, with examples of applying them to research, exploration, prototyping or delivery.
  • Experience conducting user research, navigating ambiguity and using evidence to make informed design decisions that deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to bring people together, constructively challenge assumptions, welcome different perspectives and help teams reach shared decisions.
  • Ability to lead work independently, take responsibility for outcomes, embrace feedback and continuously evolve their approach.
  • High degree of autonomy and ability to independently own complex design challenges.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing EHRs, EMRs, clinical decision-support systems or AI-powered healthcare products.
  • Experience designing AI-powered workflows, automation or intelligent decision-support experiences.
  • First-hand experience working in a clinical or healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design work from discovery through delivery, translating user needs, clinical requirements and technical constraints into intuitive, accessible solutions.
  • Work with Clinical Safety specialists to identify risks, challenge assumptions and design appropriate safeguards without adding unnecessary complexity.
  • Break complex problems into manageable, valuable increments while balancing delivery speed, user needs, clinical safety and long-term product quality.
  • Use AI-assisted tools in research, exploration, prototyping and iteration, and identify opportunities for AI and automation to improve clinical workflows.
  • Create and test ideas using Figma, functional prototypes and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Facilitate collaborative problem-solving with Product, Engineering and Clinical Safety, helping teams explore opportunities and reach well-informed decisions.
  • Build relationships with healthcare professionals through interviews, field visits and usability testing, and translate insights into product improvements.
  • Help evolve the design team's ways of working and influence decisions beyond the immediate workstream.

Benefits

  • £65,000–£75,000 salary, based on experience and the value the candidate can bring.
  • Three extra paid holidays for a birthday and “feel good” days.
  • Private health insurance covering physical and mental health, dental and optical care.
  • Flexible work environment, with flexibility to work across Europe and choose how often to attend an office.
  • Latest MacBook or Windows computer, plus a choice of equipment for an ergonomic home office.
  • Autonomy and ownership in the role.
