Senior Product Designer

TransUnionChicago, IL
Hybrid

About The Position

The Product Design team at TransUnion is responsible for shaping the end-to-end user experience for consumer-facing products across web and mobile platforms. Serving as strong advocates for the consumer, the team works closely with product, technology, legal, and marketing partners to translate complex needs into intuitive, high-impact design solutions, and plays a central role in driving meaningful consumer experiences across global markets. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of the Product Management division. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Requirements

  • Proven professional work and case studies demonstrating end to end ownership of the design process—from discovery through delivery, and the ability to clearly articulate design tradeoffs, constraints, and challenges encountered
  • Strong understanding of product, technology, and agile team dynamics, including how to navigate organizational complexity and stakeholder politics to drive successful outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently while inspiring cross functional teams to prioritize UX early and often in the process
  • Confidence to debate constructively, advocate for users, and represent the design perspective with clarity and credibility at senior and executive levels
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with experience delivering executive ready summaries and presentations that clearly communicate vision, rationale, and impact
  • Proficiency in Figma and advanced prototyping tools, with experience creating both rapid concept prototypes and robust, high fidelity interactive experiences
  • Deep understanding of UX/UI patterns, interaction design, responsive design, and accessibility / ADA best practices
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Copilot) to accelerate design exploration, research synthesis, and communication

Nice To Haves

  • Experience identifying, owning, and/or delegating sales enablement and growth opportunities tied to UX outcomes
  • Ability to confidently present to executives and “sell” UX as a strategic lever for the business
  • Experience influencing product strategy through data, insights, and peer feedback in highly collaborative environments

Responsibilities

  • Own and drive design work for high impact initiatives across identity protection, fraud, and credit experiences
  • Translate high level product requirements into meaningful, user centered experiences that deliver measurable business and consumer outcomes
  • Create rapid concept wireframes, user flows, and prototypes to explore ideas early and reduce delivery risk
  • Deliver robust, production ready prototypes that clearly communicate intent to engineering and stakeholders
  • Balance hands on execution with product discovery work, ensuring the right problems are solved—not just shipped
  • Determine when user research is needed, partner with research teams, and ensure insights directly inform product decisions
  • Own and advanced ADA front end accessibility practices, collaborating with senior front-end architects to scale automated and manual testing across global products and teams
  • Provide clear design direction and constructive feedback to designers and developers
