Senior Product Designer

TextNow, Inc.•Waterloo, ON
•$209,200 - $298,800•Hybrid

About The Position

We believe that communication belongs to everyone. TextNow is redefining how people connect by combining simplicity, intelligence, and accessibility. We’re a team of curious builders using technology to make communication more affordable and powerful for millions of users every day. Customers should feel the difference. The product has to be clear, trustworthy, and easy to use. People have to understand what they have, what works, and what to do next. We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who can help deliver great experiences for our customers.

Requirements

  • Design how a product works; focus on flows, structure, interaction, and user understanding.
  • Hold a high bar for what customers actually experience.
  • Possess strong judgment to distinguish a considered experience from an average one and discard the average.
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity.
  • Use AI as part of the design process, while maintaining personal judgment.
  • Write clearly, using a few sentences to convey decisions, constraints, and tradeoffs.
  • Have 5+ years of experience designing consumer products.
  • Provide a portfolio that shows how an experience flows: structure, sequence, and the simplest solution to a hard problem.
  • Demonstrate the use of AI to multiply creative vision, keeping judgment, and the ability to round-trip between canvas and prototype.

Nice To Haves

  • Shipped products or experiences in your spare time.

Responsibilities

  • Own how the experience flows, including the structure, the sequence, and the path a person takes through the product.
  • Solve the problem, then make the answer elegant, simple, and fluid.
  • Find the real problem, then design the simplest experience that solves it.
  • Shape how the product flows: the structure, the sequence, and how one step leads to the next.
  • Drive elegance and simplicity by taking out what the customer does not need.
  • Make the experience fluid, so moving through the product feels obvious.
  • Use AI to multiply your creative vision, while retaining judgment about what is worth making and what is good.
  • Round-trip the work between the canvas and prototypes people can use, so the intent survives both.
