About The Position

Opto is seeking a Senior Product Designer to own the design for a significant area of their product. This role involves working closely with product and engineering teams to define product strategy and execution, focusing on simplicity, clarity, and high quality. The designer will be instrumental in elevating the product's design to match the company's ambition, ensuring design is integrated into strategic decisions, not just execution. The role requires a strong point of view, systems thinking, and the ability to leverage AI in both the design process and the product itself. The goal is to create coherent, intuitive end-to-end experiences that address high-leverage design problems and contribute to the product's growth and success.

Requirements

• 0-1 product design experience, having designed a product or major feature from scratch.
• Strong product sense and high quality bar; ability to articulate the 'how'.
• Senior IC ownership, having independently owned significant scope.
• Systems thinking, building scalable patterns and considering compounding design decisions.
• Focus on outcomes and measurement, integrating analytics into design.
• Comfort in ambiguity and ability to shape evolving direction.
• AI-native design experience, integrating AI into workflow and understanding AI-powered products.
• A point of view on design's evolving role and adaptation.
• 6+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience contributing to or reaching product-market fit.
• B2B product experience, ideally fintech or data-heavy.
• Experience with research and discovery practice, using qualitative and quantitative signals.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the U.S. (no sponsorship available).

Responsibilities

• Owning design for a major surface end-to-end: strategy, execution, and outcomes.
• Bringing design into strategic and product decisions from the start, advocating for the design and user perspective in roadmap and prioritization.
• Shipping design hands-on from concept through the details that make a workflow actually work.
• Partnering with product and engineering to bring work to market with confidence, ensuring workflows hold up and design supports the user journey.
• Contributing to design practices that scale, including patterns, components, and thinking that compound across the product.
• Bringing a point of view on design in an AI-native product, focusing on trust, transparency, and design leverage.
• Using qualitative and quantitative signals to inform decisions and caring about the methodology.
• Pushing for simplicity and coherence across owned workflows, building end-to-end experiences.
