We're seeking a talented Senior UX Designer to join our team in Montreal. Your role will involve shaping, developing, and bringing to life all user-facing elements of Akur8 products. Reporting directly to the Head of Product, you'll serve as a strategic partner to both Product Management and Engineering, focusing on a dedicated product domain. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our design solutions align with industry standards and best practices. Your seniority will mean that you’re instrumental in driving high-quality design outcomes, both in terms of supporting the design needs, as well as advocating for design excellence across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience.
  • Proven B2B / SaaS UX Design experience.
  • Expertise in UX/UI design principles, with a strong portfolio showcasing your design work.
  • Experience creating, using, and maintaining design systems, as well as coding components
  • Comfortable reading and editing frontend code
  • Proven usage of AI coding agents to make targeted UI fixes
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and experience working in iterative design cycles.
  • Aptitude for understanding quantitative fields like data science, actuarial modeling, financial domain
  • You have a strategic view to everything you do - your work stands the test of time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills aptitude for addressing intricate design challenges and steering the development of innovative solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders effectively and influence decision-making processes.
  • Passionate about craftsmanship and the impact of design.
  • Based in Montréal OR be willing to relocate.
  • Fluent level of spoken English.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrating exceptional skills in design craft, encompassing UX/UI design and design ops.
  • Tackling complex design problems by collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions.
  • Informing your designs with both qualitative and data-driven insights on user needs and pain points.
  • Upholding a high-quality bar for design deliverables, ensuring they meet user needs and align with business objectives with oversight from relevant stakeholders.
  • Delivering high-quality design solutions, through design critiques and close team collaboration.
  • Defining and maintaining UX design guidelines across the platform to keep the experience coherent as the product scales
  • Owning the design system end-to-end: component architecture in Figma, design tokens, and their implementation in the frontend codebase
  • Aligning with frontend engineers to make sure design intent survives into production
  • Using, maintaining and enhancing AI-assisted workflows (Claude, Cursor, or equivalent) to streamline the design process and contribute directly to product enhancements
  • Managing stakeholders effectively, communicating design decisions, and evangelizing the value of design throughout the organization.
  • Being autonomous and responsible for your time and deliverables.
