About The Position

Discord is seeking a Senior Product Designer, Developer Success to join their Developer Platform Team. This role will focus on creating meaningful experiences for players by building smart integrations and intuitive tools for game studios. The designer will work on both B2B and B2C aspects, serving game studios with tools and community managers to connect with players, and enhancing player experiences to deepen their connection to games and build friendships through play. The work will involve designing in-game features, onboarding flows, and integrating game moments onto Discord. The designer will operate across various surfaces including the developer portal, dashboards, self-serve tools, in-game overlays, and the Discord client itself. The ideal candidate is energized by complex challenges, passionate about games and community, and excited to shape how studios partner with Discord.

Requirements

5+ years of experience developing and leading design on central end-to-end consumer products across a variety of platforms (web, mobile, desktop, console, etc).
Experience as the design lead for a squad, feature, initiative, and team, comfortable making design decisions, leading discussions, and communicating to the wider organization.
Experience working on B2B/B2B2C products and platforms.
Expert-level experience with Figma and high-fidelity prototyping tools, and confidence in utilizing AI to create prototypes.
Strong product thinking and strategic vision, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into intuitive user experiences.
Adept at articulating the rationale behind design decisions and their alignment with broader product goals.
Mastery of design craft, including typography, color theory, layout principles, and interaction design.
Committed to pixel-perfect execution and have a keen eye for subtle details that enhance user experience.
High level of skill at crafting high-quality visual designs and an eye for creating delight in every product experience.
Compelling storytelling skills across multiple mediums with consistent experience pitching and influencing design decisions across peers, immediate team members, and organization leadership.
Strong, proactive communication skills, forming ideas and presenting them to the cross-functional team to develop product strategy and roadmaps.
A desire to deeply understand the 'why' before defining the 'how' and use it to develop a strategic product perspective and vision.
Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to leverage quantitative and qualitative data to inform design decisions and measure the impact of design changes on key metrics.
Experience working with, and actively contributing to a design system with components of sub-system languages.

Responsibilities

Embed within a product squad and partner with engineers, product managers, researchers, and data scientists to oversee the user experience of a product from concept to launch, and then continue to improve it after release.
Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and help implement designs to pixel perfection, while also quality checking work as it is built to ensure it reflects the vision.
Own the bar for craft, execution, and production quality for the immediate product team, and proactively identify opportunities to uplevel the quality of work in production through playtesting.
Actively influence the team's roadmap with a deep understanding of the product space, acting as a thought leader with XFN leads in defining the 'how' of the product strategy.
Present designs to the team and the greater organization to drive alignment.
Identify gaps or improvements for the design system and contribute UX and design patterns that address design debt and are adopted across the design organization.
Be an active peer and participant in the organization's design team and culture, sharing/contributing often and proactively in critiques and general channels to encourage a culture of open feedback and active support.
