Our design team is expanding, and we're seeking a Senior Product Designer, Design System to join our innovative and collaborative group. We are passionate about UX design and excel at creating exceptional user experiences. As a Product Designer, you will play a crucial role in shaping and evolving the Tangerine Design System, enabling consistent, accessible, and scalable experiences across our digital ecosystem. In support of Tangerine's vision to make experiences more human, honest, and effortless, your mission is to create and maintain design foundations, components, patterns, and guidelines that empower product teams to deliver exceptional client experiences efficiently and consistently at scale. This role is ideal for a designer who is passionate about systems thinking, accessibility, governance, and creating scalable foundations that improve the quality and efficiency of product delivery across the organization.

Requirements

Solid understanding of design thinking methodology and iterative design.
Completed a program in UX Design, HCI, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in Product Design, UX Design, or a related discipline.
Talent in creating intuitive experiences that are both accessible and aesthetically stunning.
Portfolio demonstrates a strong balance of systems thinking, craft excellence, and business impact, including work that scales across products and platforms.
Toolbox includes Figma and Miro, and proficiency in creating interactive prototypes, defining reusable components, and conducting usability studies to gather user insights.
Experience designing, maintaining, or contributing to a Design System, including components, design tokens, usage guidelines, and governance practices.
Strong understanding of atomic design principles, component-based design, and scalable UX frameworks.
Familiarity with standard UI frameworks, best practices, and guidelines for Web, iOS, and Android.
Comfortable partnering closely with engineers to ensure design system components are implemented accurately and maintained over time.
Mastery of annotations and handoffs, and meticulous in design QA.
Skilled at balancing immediate product needs with long-term platform and system thinking.
Top-notch communication skills, enabling influence of stakeholders, facilitation of alignment, and smooth collaboration with developers, product teams, and leadership.

Nice To Haves

Love for learning new tools and techniques.
Experience in a financial institution, behavioral science, or a related field is an added bonus.
Experience working with enterprise-scale Design Systems, accessibility standards (WCAG AA), and multi-platform ecosystems is considered a strong asset.

Responsibilities

Lead in enhancing the usability, accessibility, and consistency of our internal and external products, ensuring top-notch experiences for users.
Design based on business requirements and align the creative strategy and client experience across product, design, and development teams.
Conduct studies on usability, interaction, visual design, directional content, and information architecture.
Ensure design decisions are driven by principles, customer insights, data, and business acumen.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, fellow designers, engineers, and functional teams.
Lead the evolution of the Tangerine Design System, ensuring it remains scalable, accessible, and aligned to business and client needs.
Define, maintain, and continuously improve design foundations, design tokens, components, patterns, and documentation that support multiple product teams.
Establish and contribute to design system governance, contribution models, and review frameworks to ensure consistency and quality across channels.
Partner closely with Engineering to drive design-to-code alignment and ensure component implementation is scalable across Web, iOS, and Android platforms.
Champion adoption of the Design System through reviews, documentation, education, and stakeholder engagement across the organization.
Ensure the Design System reflects and reinforces Tangerine's design principles and vision, helping teams create experiences that are more human, honest, and effortless.
Design with accessibility in mind from the outset, ensuring solutions work for everyone.
Proactively plan design activities, set expectations for timelines, and balance creativity with constraints.
Mentor fellow designers, share best practices, and help elevate the craft across the Tangerine Design Chapter.
Shape, influence, and nurture the Tangerine design community of practice.
