About The Position

As a Senior Product Analyst at Fivetran and dbt Labs, you will help product leaders understand how customers adopt, use, and continue using core Fivetran data movement and dbt platform products, as well as new releases across AI, BI, and compute. You will own analytics work end to end: building data models, defining metrics, creating dashboards, performing analysis, and turning findings into recommendations that inform product decisions. The role focuses on adoption, engagement, and retention, and includes investigating customer behavior, sizing product opportunities, evaluating launches and experiments, and improving user funnels. You will partner across product and business teams and help colleagues and new hires understand and use company data. Analysts are expected to use AI tools thoughtfully to improve efficiency, exercise judgment, and validate outputs. This is a full-time, flexible hybrid position based in Oakland, California. The hybrid model offers remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, with no fixed number of required office days; teams are encouraged to meet in person regularly. The analytics team uses a modern data stack, including SQL, dbt, BI and analysis tools, and AI coding assistants.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in analytics, primarily product analytics; ideally at a high-growth B2B or SaaS company.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including transforming raw data into trustworthy datasets and independently writing, debugging, and explaining SQL.
  • Comfort using AI tools in analytics workflows to explore data, draft or improve SQL, automate repetitive work, and synthesize findings; ability to evaluate and validate AI-generated output.
  • Hands-on experience building data models, ideally with dbt; creating dashboards in a BI tool such as Looker, Omni, or Tableau; and performing funnel, cohort, and segmentation analysis.
  • Demonstrated use of analysis to drive product or business decisions, rather than only reporting results.
  • Ability to take an open-ended question with little direction and turn it into a clear analysis and recommendation.
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining findings to executives and technical tradeoffs to engineers.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional, distributed teams asynchronously and in real time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and analyzing A/B/n experiments, including test design, sample size, significance, and translating results into launch decisions.
  • Deep knowledge of the SaaS customer lifecycle and business metrics such as ARR, retention, and expansion.
  • Experience defining product events and helping teams self-serve in product analytics tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Heap.
  • Experience developing and scaling a large dbt project.
  • Python or R for analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers and product line leaders to understand problems and potential solutions through data.
  • Deliver regular analysis and insight on product adoption, engagement, and retention.
  • Investigate trends in user behavior and product usage proactively, identify issues and growth opportunities, and use findings to shape product and growth strategy.
  • Define, measure, and monitor KPIs that indicate product health and company progress.
  • Estimate the potential impact of new product initiatives and recommend prioritization.
  • Analyze product launches and experiments and recommend next steps.
  • Identify and reduce friction in funnels for signing up, activating, and adopting products.
  • Analyze questions connecting product data with broader business data, including revenue, sales, and support.
  • Build and maintain the data models, metrics, and dashboards that support analytical work.
  • Help new hires, colleagues, and partners understand company data and use it effectively.
