Senior Product Analyst

Fivetran•Oakland, CA
•$156,082 - $195,103•Hybrid

About The Position

Fivetran and dbt Labs are one company, building data movement and transformation tools used by data teams around the world. The Senior Product Analyst will work on the Analytics team, using the company’s modern data stack to help product leaders understand how customers adopt, use, and retain core Fivetran data movement and dbt platform products, along with new products spanning AI, BI, and compute. The role owns analytical work end to end: building data models, defining metrics, creating dashboards, conducting analysis, and turning findings into recommendations that inform product decisions. Analysts are expected to use AI tools thoughtfully to improve speed and efficiency, while applying judgment and validating results. This is a full-time, flexible hybrid position based in Oakland, California. The hybrid model provides remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, with no fixed number of required office days; teams are encouraged to meet in person regularly. The analyst will partner with product managers and product line leaders, investigate customer behavior and product usage, measure product health, evaluate initiatives and experiments, identify funnel friction, and connect product data with broader business information. The role also includes building and maintaining analytical models, metrics, and dashboards, and helping colleagues and partners use data effectively.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of analytics experience, primarily in product analytics; experience at a high-growth B2B or SaaS company is preferred.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including the ability to transform raw data into trustworthy datasets and independently write, debug, and explain SQL.
  • Comfort using AI tools in analytics workflows to explore data, draft or improve SQL, automate repetitive tasks, and synthesize findings, with the ability to evaluate and validate AI-generated output.
  • Hands-on experience building data models, ideally with dbt; building dashboards in a BI tool such as Looker, Omni, or Tableau; and conducting funnel, cohort, and segmentation analyses.
  • Demonstrated ability to use analysis to influence product or business decisions, not just report results, and to turn open-ended questions with limited direction into clear analyses and recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail and prioritization skills.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain findings to executives and technical tradeoffs to engineers.
  • Experience influencing cross-functional, distributed teams asynchronously and in real time.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing and analyzing A/B/n experiments, including test design, sample size, significance, and translating results into launch decisions.
  • Deep knowledge of the SaaS customer lifecycle and business metrics such as ARR, retention, and expansion.
  • Experience defining product events and enabling teams to self-serve in product analytics tools such as Amplitude, Mixpanel, or Heap.
  • Experience developing and scaling a large dbt project.
  • Python or R experience for analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product managers and product line leaders to understand problems and potential solutions using data, and deliver regular analysis and insights on product adoption, engagement, and retention.
  • Proactively investigate trends in user behavior and product usage, identify issues and growth opportunities, and use findings to shape product and growth strategy.
  • Define, measure, and monitor KPIs that indicate product health and company performance.
  • Estimate the potential impact of new product initiatives and recommend prioritization.
  • Analyze product launches and experiments and recommend next steps.
  • Identify and reduce friction in sign-up, activation, and product adoption funnels.
  • Analyze questions at the intersection of product data and broader business data, including revenue, sales, and support.
  • Build and maintain the data models, metrics, and dashboards that support analytical work.
  • Help new hires, colleagues, and partners understand and use company data so that data-informed decisions become common practice.

Benefits

  • 100% employer-paid medical insurance.
  • Generous paid time away, including paid vacation or flexible/unlimited vacation depending on role and country, paid sick time, inclusive parental leave, paid holidays, a year-end Global Week of Rest, and volunteer days off.
  • RSU stock grants.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • Company virtual happy hours, free food, and team-building activities.
  • Monthly cell phone stipend.
  • Access to a mental health support platform offering therapy, coaching, and self-guided mindfulness resources for covered employees and their covered dependents.
