About The Position

Lead the production of live and recorded television, radio, streaming, and multimedia programming. Act as Line Producer in the control room. Plan, develop, and oversee content for news, public affairs, feature, special event, and promotional programming. Direct daily production activities, including story development, program rundowns, segment planning, and content coordination. Serves as a team leader, assigning work and coaching team members and reporting to management on their performance. Writes and produces news and feature content and programming as assigned for use in broadcasts and web and social media. As assigned, develops or updates standard operating procedures for unit. As assigned, during programs, serves as line producer and manages the timing and order of stories included in broadcasts. Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in his/her assigned stories. Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned. Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned. Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or TV programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned. Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others. Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned. As assigned, edits and approves copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories. Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned. Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned. Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned. Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned. Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed. Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines. Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements. Works independently or as a member of a team. Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned. Has specialized knowledge including formal education in a field desired by VOA, regularly demonstrating that added ability through the performance of his/her duties. Knowledge of Cuba’s history and familiarity with U.S./Cuba relations. Other related duties as assigned. Requirements

  • Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area.
  • Ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned.
  • Specialized knowledge including formal education in a field desired by VOA, regularly demonstrating that added ability through the performance of his/her duties.
  • Knowledge of Cuba’s history and familiarity with U.S./Cuba relations.
  • All personal service contractors must pass a thorough background check.
