Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration (Finance) or related field
  • SCMP designation or ability to complete one
  • Proven purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven history of developing effective inventory management solutions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Solid data analysis, inventory management, and issue resolution skills
  • Technical knowledge of steel manufacturing products
  • Demonstrated financial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost analysis, data reconciliation, financial reporting, and interpreting operational and financial data.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities to support informed business decisions.
  • Advanced oral comprehension and expression; Must speak, read and write in English fluently.
  • Literacy equivalent to OECD Level 4 or higher.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s manufacturing goals and long-term business objectives.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and optimize supplier agreements to improve profitability.
  • Forecast procurement needs and ensure strategic alignment with production schedules and inventory management.
  • Own the development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of procurement processes, procedures, standards, and related documentation.
  • Analyze data to determine and allocate resource requirements, quantify decisions and report on KPI's.
  • Identify, evaluate, and develop relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and competitive pricing.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms to achieve favorable outcomes for the company.
  • Monitor supplier performance and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.
  • Maintain strict supplier relationship confidentiality as outlined by company policies and expectations.
  • Analyze procurement data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Develop strategies to manage and reduce procurement costs without compromising quality.
  • Ensure efficient procurement processes that support LEAN manufacturing practices.
  • Work closely with all operational teams to align procurement activities with operational needs.
  • Ensure procurement practices support production timelines and quality standards.
  • Identify potential supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, and supplier communications.
  • Operate as a key member of the Finance team, supporting departmental objectives and contributing to the achievement of organizational financial goals.
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Manager and finance team to ensure procurement activities align with financial policies, budgets, reporting requirements, and business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of company financial processes, policies, procedures, work instructions, and internal controls as they relate to procurement and inventory management.
  • Support the development, implementation, and consistent application of financial and procurement controls, standards, and best practices.
  • Contribute to financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and cost management activities to support informed decision-making and organizational performance.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between Finance, Operations, Production, and other stakeholders to support informed decision-making and continuous business improvement.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and day-to-day direction to the Buyer & Inventory Specialist.
  • Support employee development through coaching, training, performance feedback, and knowledge sharing.
  • Prioritize and coordinate workload to ensure procurement and inventory objectives are achieved.
