About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to design and conduct process engineering experiments, characterize hardware, analyze film properties, and resolve complex process engineering issues. The role involves communicating with customers, partnering with vendors and suppliers, implementing new technologies and analytical instrumentation, and providing support to junior colleagues and project teams. The position is based in Santa Clara, California, and includes travel 10% of the time.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a related field.
• 4–7 years of related experience.
• Conceptual and practical expertise in complex problem solving.

Nice To Haves

• A degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Material Science.
• Prior experience with plasma physics or vacuum systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, collect data, analyze, and compile reports on difficult process engineering experiments.
• Perform hardware characterization on a variety of difficult systems.
• Troubleshoot complex problems, conduct root cause analysis, and resolve difficult process engineering issues.
• Measure film properties and interpret data.
• Generate internal product documentation, presentations, and technical reports.
• Communicate and engage with customers to resolve complex process engineering issues or concerns under limited supervision.
• Identify and select vendors and suppliers, and partner with them.
• Implement new technology, products, and analytical instrumentation.
• Serve as a resource for junior colleagues and lead project teams as needed.
