About The Position

Responsible for supporting, developing, and optimizing all wire and cable related equipment and processes. Supports the Agave Wire manufacturing site and creates consistency across all Copperweld Wire & Cable manufacturing facilities. Supports installation of future product lines. Improves existing equipment by improving efficiencies, reducing strap, etc. Supports the installation and commissioning of new equipment. Works closely with operations and maintenance teams to support installations and commissioning. Implements processes and procedures for all new equipment. Enters product specifications and QC requirements. Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues related to: Processes (human errors, procedural errors), Raw Materials (supplier issues, contamination), and Equipment (machine failures, design flaws). Responsible for optimizing productivity including: Run Rates, Processes/Procedures, Scrap Reduction/Material Usage. Responsible for designing and procuring tooling/equipment, as needed. Develops plant layouts and tool/equipment drawings, as needed. Works with raw materials including establishing incoming inspections, troubleshooting material related issues, working with suppliers to determine root cause and dispositions, and qualifying new materials. Responsible for building product specifications and developing/implementing testing procedures. Utilizes experience with Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Solidworks Pro, AutoCAD, and PLEX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electromechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in extrusion engineering positions.
  • Troubleshooting extrusion lines and other wire related equipment.
  • Working with PVC, Nylon, PE, XLPE, and TPE.
  • Creating run sheets and SOPs.
  • Meeting wire and cable regulatory quality requirements (UL, CSA, SAE, ISO).
  • Installing new wire and cable manufacturing equipment.
  • Working with raw material vendors on qualifying new materials and refining existing materials.
  • Working with maintenance on PMs and spare parts.
  • Working with controls engineering to refine equipment functionality.
  • Implementing lean manufacturing tools including 5S, Kaizen, and SMED to improve process efficiency.
  • Experience with Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Solidworks Pro, AutoCAD, and PLEX.
