About The Position

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated, and modified process systems, structures, and components within the nuclear industry. This role involves preparing and reviewing various design documents, performing thermalhydraulic evaluations, and ensuring adherence to project delivery requirements and schedules. The Senior Process Engineer will also be responsible for preparing and reviewing engineering quotations and tender evaluations, supporting proposal preparation, and interfacing with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the role includes providing technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to other engineers.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • A minimum of 12 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants.
  • Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.
  • Experience in nuclear process system design and layout.
  • Experience performing heat balance and thermalhydraulic evaluations.
  • Experience leading/mentoring teams.
  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
  • Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA or similar).
  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III.
  • Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME B31.1 codes and other nuclear-power-plant applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems.
  • Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified process systems, structures and components.
  • Prepare and/or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.
  • Perform thermalhydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
  • Provide leadership to team on assigned tasks, ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering packages.
  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
  • Ensure adherence to company quality program.
  • Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.
  • Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to engineers.
