About The Position

S&B is seeking a talented and dynamic Senior Process Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. This position requires experience supporting power generation projects, with a focus on combined-cycle and simple-cycle plants. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in power plant process design and engineering, including significant expertise with steam cycle systems and equipment such as steam turbines, HRSGs, condensers, and balance-of-plant utilities. The role requires the ability to independently evaluate, select, and apply advanced engineering principles, methods, and standards while providing technical leadership to project team. Experience modeling power island thermal performance using software such as THERMOFLEX is preferred. The candidate will be expected to develop and review process deliverables, support project execution from early studies through detailed design, interface directly with clients and equipment vendors, and ensure the technical quality of engineering deliverables. This position offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role in the execution of power generation projects while contributing to S&B's continued growth in the energy and power markets.

Requirements

  • Minimum of ten (10) years experience in Process/Design Engineering or related functional area (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).
  • Proficiency in utilizing various computer software packages and automated engineering design tools.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to correspond with clients, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to senior management, public groups and/or boards of directors.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience modeling power island thermal performance using software such as THERMOFLEX is preferred.
  • Registration as a licensed professional engineer is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes client requirements and designs process and plant facilities.
  • Develops process engineering requirements for the design, control and operation of a process plant.
  • Prepares calculations and design basis for equipment specifications.
  • Develops process deliverables including Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Equipment Datasheets, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), and Process Specification for Instruments (PSFIs).
  • Communicates process design to client and other design disciplines.
  • Participates in process safety reviews.
  • May function as a group leader over less experienced engineers and specialists.
  • Responsible for coordinating and reviewing progress of group activities.
