About The Position

The Senior Process Engineer will provide technical leadership for complex manufacturing processes and cross-functional initiatives aimed at expanding capability, accelerating reliable production scaling, and improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role serves as a recognized subject-matter expert who leads high-impact work, establishes engineering standards, mentors others, and influences decisions across value streams. The company, Mott, is a technology-driven, high-precision filtration company trusted by leading brands in Medicine, Computing Power, Clean Energy, and Space Exploration. Established in 1959 and located in Farmington, Connecticut, Mott is positioned for significant growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline; an advanced degree is a plus.
  • Seven or more years of progressive process, manufacturing, industrial, or related engineering experience in a high-precision, regulated, or advanced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ownership of complex processes or technologies and successful leadership of cross-functional projects from concept through production release.
  • Advanced proficiency in structured problem-solving, FMEA, control plans, process capability, statistical analysis, validation, and Lean or Six Sigma methods.
  • Proven experience with manufacturing routes, bills of material, process detail sheets, standard work, production-readiness deliverables, and engineering change control.
  • Experience specifying, justifying, commissioning, validating, and scaling capital equipment, tooling, fixtures, or automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical staff, lead through influence, communicate with senior stakeholders, and make risk-based engineering decisions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in powder processing, compaction, sintering, filtration, fabrication, machining, welding, high-temperature processing, or another relevant advanced-manufacturing technology is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt, or comparable continuous-improvement certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical performance and long-term capability of assigned processes or technologies, serving as the primary engineering authority for complex issues and critical decisions.
  • Lead cross-functional projects from concept through production implementation, including scope definition, technical risk assessment, schedule, budget, resource coordination, validation, and sustained handoff to Operations.
  • Develop advanced process designs, operating windows, control strategies, and qualification plans that meet customer, regulatory, quality, and business requirements.
  • Lead complex root-cause investigations and corrective actions using rigorous data analysis, experimentation, and statistical methods; ensure countermeasures are effective, documented, and institutionalized.
  • Direct design-for-manufacturability reviews and production-scaling activities for new products, new technologies, and high-risk process changes.
  • Identify, justify, and implement capital equipment and automation solutions, including specifications, supplier evaluation, safety reviews, installation, commissioning, validation, training, and performance ramp-up.
  • Establish and improve engineering standards, best practices, process documentation, and knowledge-management methods across the assigned area.
  • Mentor Process Engineers, technicians, and production personnel; provide technical review, coaching, and structured training that builds organizational capability.
  • Influence cross-functional priorities and communicate technical risks, trade-offs, recommendations, project status, and business impact to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • Lead continuous-improvement initiatives that materially improve throughput, capability, reliability, quality, safety, lead time, and cost across one or more manufacturing areas.
  • Represent Process Engineering in customer, supplier, audit, and technical discussions when advanced process expertise or risk-based decisions are required.
  • Anticipate future capacity, capability, equipment, and workforce needs and translate them into practical technical roadmaps and prioritized improvement plans.
