About The Position

The Flare Process Engineer evaluates, calculates, and designs flare systems. This role serves as an in-depth technical resource for fluid system hydraulics, static and non-static mechanical systems, open-air gaseous flow modeling, scattered source acoustic and thermal radiation emissions, heat transfer, thermo-mechanical suitability, and combustion dynamics. The engineer reviews project equipment drawings to meet project needs and applicable standards and performs industrial scale combustion testing at our world-class combustion test facility. The primary responsibility is the final design of Zeeco's custom-built flare equipment.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, etc.), Math, Physics, or Computer Science
  • 7-10 years related experience
  • Sufficient interpersonal skills to interact effectively with persons inside and outside of the company.
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations related to job requirements.
  • Ability to work under stress.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • Ability to process paperwork effectively.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to do unaccompanied travel.
  • Must be able to tolerate shop environment and exposures associated with welding and industrial equipment manufacturing, and apply appropriate safety equipment when required.
  • Must not present a risk of injury to self or others while engaged in company duties.

Responsibilities

  • Provides engineering support to the Project Execution group, including reviewing Turn Over Packages and detailed customer specifications.
  • Performs calculations including hydraulic, thermal, auditory, combustion, dispersion, and two-phase flow.
  • Checks drawings to ensure design standards are followed.
  • Sets design standards and limits for projects.
  • Performs a final review of designs before releasing them for production.
  • Tests Flare equipment in the Test Facility.
  • Resolves field issues as they arise.
