About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support the Tactical Networks (TACNET) Capabilities Based in Service Engineering Agent (CB-ISEA). The role supports sustainment and modernization of tactical networks, including ADNS, CANES, CENTRIXS, ISNS, SCI networks, and Flank Speed Wireless. The engineer will lead initiatives involving tactical networks and design, develop, and sustain Department of Defense system networks. Working closely with development and sustainment engineering teams, the role engineers solutions to improve, modernize, and sustain afloat networks using agile methods in a DevOps environment. The candidate must be willing to learn new toolsets, templates, and workflows as business needs evolve. This is a hybrid/remote position requiring the candidate to be local to San Diego, California, for periodic onsite visits at the SAIC office in San Diego and/or Virginia Beach. The role may require up to 10% CONUS/OCONUS travel and occasional off-hours support. The position provides system life-cycle software engineering support to NAVWAR and NIWC customers, focusing primarily on software components loaded on supported tactical networks. Work includes sustaining fielded TACNET systems; analyzing and modifying systems to replace end-of-support COTS components, support new interfaces, and address customer requirements; and supporting installations, configuration management, upgrades, distance support, and emergent onsite CASREP needs. Engineering solutions are primarily for Red Hat/Linux-based operating systems. The engineer performs root-cause analysis, recommends configuration changes, develops and integrates software solutions, and contributes to technical documentation, reviews, meetings, and presentations. The role also involves working with external partners and leading source-code development and deployment across multiple classification levels and environments.
