Requirements

• A Doctoral (Ph.D. or equivalent experience) in a suitable subject area like physiology, pharmacology, pharmaceutical sciences, or drug delivery is needed. This must be paired with at least 10 years of relevant industrial experience.
• Candidates with a Masters (M.S. or equivalent experience) and 15 years or a BS (or equivalent experience) plus 20 years are also eligible. An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
• A strong background, in-depth knowledge, and hands-on technical ability in subcutaneous drug delivery.
• Proven problem-solving skills are a must.
• Expert knowledge of scientific principles and concepts.
• Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others, and independent thought.
• Record of peer-reviewed publications involving preclinical models.
• Expertise in crafting and conducting nonclinical in vivo studies is required.
• Experience with computer methods for data acquisition and analysis required.
• Strong mathematical skills desired.
• Exercise judgment and build procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in written format.
• Demonstrated leadership capabilities to develop a high-performing team, inspire change and influence internal and external collaborators.
• Self-motivated, well-organized, with the ability to work independently and enjoy scientific investigation and thinking, proactively identifying issues, and developing solutions in a collaborative multidisciplinary environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with medical devices, such as auto-injectors and on-body delivery systems, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leading, designing, conducting, and analyzing experimental work to support Halozyme’s drug delivery platform, alliance collaborations, and device research.
• Identifying and developing technical innovations to promote future business growth and improvements that meet Halozyme’s and its partners' requirements.
• Planning, building, and conducting in vivo nonclinical exploratory and preclinical drug delivery studies to evaluate SC drug delivery and device technologies using Halozyme’s drug delivery platforms.
• Collaborating with platform teams to plan, build, conduct, analyze, and interpret data, and prepare nonclinical study reports and summaries to support drug delivery efforts.
• Ensuring successful completion of nonclinical studies to meet clinical needs for Halozyme and its alliance partners.
• Supporting Halozyme’s and its partners' regulatory filings by drafting and/or reviewing clinical trial study protocols, drug administration instructions, pharmacy manuals, and other regulatory documents.
• Continuing to develop experimental models to further expand drug delivery research and medical device development and knowledge.
• Providing preclinical research support to assess novel or alternative drug delivery technologies to grow Halozyme’s business portfolio.
• Enabling innovation and technical strategy projects, generating IP, and contributing to scientific publications.
• Supporting multiple programs simultaneously in a fast-paced, global environment and driving project timelines based on project needs and input from Innovation colleagues and cross-functional teams.
• Ensuring compliance with company-established practices and procedures, including laboratory notebooks, computer files, quality and regulatory guidelines, and safety standards.
• Participating in department and alliance team meetings.
• Reporting and presenting scientific findings at appropriate scientific venues.
• Striving to be a Halozyme subject matter expert in one or more drug delivery fields.
