About The Position

The Classified Infrastructure Services department provides expertise to programs in Networking, High Performance Computing, and Storage & Data Protection. Join this high impact team as a Senior Principal Network Engineer (P4) (Manager, Information Workplace Services) to ensure the smooth operation of classified Proprietary Program network infrastructure at our Raytheon/RTX locations. The installation, maintenance, support, and monitoring of the network infrastructure will be performed. Candidates must have advanced background supporting networks. This role is in Marlborough, MA and the role will be onsite. This role is relocation eligible if the selected applicant meets company policy criteria. Focuses on Inter-team communication and organization of clear documentation of network details to support and enable smooth project growth. Maintains smooth operation of voice and data networks. Plans, evaluates, coordinates, and performs installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network Develop technical expertise in all areas of voice and data networks hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as switches, routers, firewalls, authentication servers, encryptors etc. Maintains network management software platforms Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings aligning with future requirements factoring in redundancy and required network uptime.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years' experience.
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems, including software upgrades.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret DOD security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in Security+ within 6 months and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is highly desired within a year.
  • Experience with current cabling and fiber standards
  • Experience with access control list, security posture, and vendor best practices.
  • Experience with Visio diagramming and design capabilities
  • 1-2 years of experience with network management software.
  • Willingness and availability to travel domestically as needed.
  • Knowledge of configuration and troubleshooting of encryption devices.
  • Effective customer service skills, including oral and written communications.
  • Experience with platforms such as IP telephony, NTP servers, GemOne, and SolarWinds.
  • Ability to work under time constraints.
  • Experience with classified computing, STIG compliance, and network refreshes
  • Current DoD Top Secret level security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced knowledge in support of (software/firmware/hardware) LAN/WAN components including routers, switches, firewalls (Cisco/Palo Alto).
  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and optimize network system performance, proactively identifying and quickly resolving service impacting issues.
  • Review system vulnerability assessments to ensure compliance with recognized industry standards and best practices.
  • Drive and/or participate in projects in support of installation and/or improvement to voice, video, and network infrastructure.
  • Produce, update, and generally improve technical documentation to support security requirements and operational support of systems.
  • Propose to management and configure network solutions, meeting all communications requirements based on future needs, current usage, cost savings, and availability.
  • Provide regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for network infrastructure.
  • Assist with coordination of third-party maintenance and procurement for network equipment or with vendors for third-party support.
  • Assist in the overall performance and capability of technical teams through mentoring, training, and knowledge sharing.
  • Willingness and availability to work outside normal business hours (evenings and weekends) as needed.
  • Willingness and availability to travel to local and other U.S domestic sites approximately 30% of time.
  • Must be able to work with general supervision and follow established procedures.
