The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support. The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer as the GhostEye Program Lead. GhostEye is a multi-mission medium range sensor providing 360 deg surveillance in the LTAMDS Raytheon Technologies franchise. In this role, you will lead the GhostEye Program, reporting directly to the LTAMDS IPT Lead. You will be responsible for overseeing program execution across multiple products, ensuring alignment with challenging schedules while effectively planning, managing, and tracking cost and schedule performance. This onsite role will be based in Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.

Requirements

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience leading and participating in design, development and production activities.
  • Experience preparing both technical and cost proposals.
  • Experience with earned value management and other program management skills.
  • Experience presenting challenging technical issues to senior leadership.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with military radar, program and products, ideally in the LTAMDS franchise.
  • Raytheon Technologies process improvement ie CORE/ Six Sigma Certification.
  • Collaborate in teams or independently, flexible, demonstrates initiative.
  • Experience in driving Cost Reduction Initiatives and partnering with Suppliers in reducing costs and or driving quick closure to issues.
  • Broad knowledge of project management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the scope, budget, and schedule for the overall development of the system.
  • Integrate the sub-products into a complete Radar Set product.
  • Lead a cross functional team including members from Engineering, Operations, Integrated Supply Chain, and Quality through hardware development and production.
  • Implement EVMS and Risk & Opportunity Management.
  • Manage program planning, budgeting, and tracking to cost and schedule.
  • Manage design completion while balancing resulting performance with the ability to meet customer's critical schedule requirements.
  • Regularly review program status including tracking and review by both Engineering Leadership and Program Leadership.
  • Ensure successful technical execution through extensive knowledge of hardware engineering capabilities.
  • Partner with chief engineers, technical leads, Operations leads, Supply Chain and Quality.
  • Lead a design release into production.
  • Interact with all levels of Raytheon Management, internal and external customers.
  • Ensure balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising leadership.
