About The Position

The Radar Mechanical Design Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of some of the most innovative land-based and shipboard radars in the world. This includes phased array radar systems, electronic modules, pedestals, and power and cooling systems. The department comprises individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support. The Radar Mechanical Design Department is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer as the GhostEye Radar Set Product Lead. GhostEye is a multi-mission medium range sensor providing 360 deg surveillance in the LTAMDS Raytheon Technologies franchise. In this role, you will be responsible for driving technical execution across all radar sub-products so that, when integrated, the radar meets all hardware requirements. You will manage the technical development and maturity of the design while simultaneously balancing resulting performance and capabilities with the ability to meet the customers’ critical schedule requirements and contract governance. You will need to maintain effective relationships with internal technical stakeholders, including the IPT Leads, Operations & Supply Chain, Quality, Lifecycle Engineering, Chief Engineers, cross functional engineers as well as the hardware team. This onsite role will be based in Marlborough, MA or Tewksbury, MA.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years’ experience.
  • Experience serving as a product lead or technical lead with responsibility for coordinating cross-functional teams and driving a complex mechanical hardware product through design, development, integration, production, and delivery.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience with phase array structures, and/or hardware packaging, and/or array integration for military or mechanical or commercial applications into production.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Direct experience with military radar, program and products, ideally in the LTAMDS franchise.
  • Proven technical leadership skills with the ability to develop work plans and drive success.
  • Experience collaborating across functions, including Engineering, Operations, Global Supply Chain, and Quality, during hardware development, production, and system testing.
  • Background in executing DoD sustainment or product support activities, including proposal development.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and interact with senior leadership, customers, teammates, and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical development for the overall system. This includes the integration of the sub-products into a complete Radar Set product.
  • Execute the design, development, production, and delivery of the Radar set across multiple cross function teams.
  • Govern contract scope while assessing the technical break-in of new design capabilities and producibility improvements.
  • Provide technical conscience, challenged with making sure the product and process meet appropriate standards and requirements.
  • Ensure balance with risk conditions and constraints while advising leadership.
  • Support Array IPT Lead with EVMS, Program planning, budgeting, and Risk & Opportunity Management pertaining to the radar hardware.
  • Management of Engineering production support while simultaneously balancing resulting performance with the ability to meet the customers’ critical schedule requirements across GhostEye contracts.
  • Maintain effective relationships with internal technical and programmatic stakeholders, including the IPT Leads, Operations & Supply Chain, Quality, Lifecycle Engineering, Chief Engineers, and Engineering Finance.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal and leadership skills are to help drive the team to meet program milestones and ensure alignment with the roadmap.
  • Be Visible and accountable for technical decisions of a growing team of hardware engineers.
