Requirements

  • 5+ years professional experience in a Renewables Project Management role.
  • Excellent understanding of project cycle from feasibility, thru permitting, entitlements, design and utility processes, executing with EPC contract negotiations.
  • Strong familiarity with photovoltaic solar and energy storage components and associated technical standards.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Teams, Excel, Primavera P6, ProCore, Quickbase, and Microsoft Project.
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and BlueBeam.
  • Superior communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience managing direct reports is an advantage.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including an ability to maintain calm and effective exchanges with all parties during stressful situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills demonstrated by clear and effective project plans and executive level reporting that ensure timely action and decision making in time-pressured scenarios.

Responsibilities

  • Liaising with multiple Teams and Departments to support each project’s successful development from Feasibility Stage thru execution of the EPCA.
  • Providing regular weekly reporting on multiple projects and assisting the Director in monitoring project workload and deliverables throughout the team.
  • Attending project Kick-Off meetings, and receiving new projects on behalf of the Pre-Construction Team; regularly recording/reporting on project tracking tools.
  • Supporting the review of project information to understand project needs, risks and timelines.
  • Communicating with Project Team members on project maturity and risk/proposed mitigation strategies as they relate to execution of the project to support AES goals.
  • Participating in discussions on entitlement and permitting issues to support acceleration discussions regarding design development.
  • Coordinating with Estimators and Development Team to establish team deliverables.
  • Coordinating with Development Teams to facilitate RFP responses.
  • Providing feedback for M&A due diligence and ‘red flag’ memos for new opportunities and acquisitions under consideration.
  • Developing familiarity with Utility Interconnection process, and providing feedback on applicability to schedule assumptions.
  • Reviewing and critiquing design information (e.g. Layouts) for buildability and possible operational issues, prior to handing off to Estimating Team.
  • Participating in the Interconnection status review process and having a working understanding of HV elements of a project; maintaining visibility on project design and estimation process.
  • Reviewing Risk Register and inquiring/messaging appropriately.
  • Understanding equipment technologies and being familiar with the AES CE AVL.
  • Maintaining visibility on commodity price and availability fluctuations through coordination with Estimating Team.
  • Providing regular feedback on status of projects to Execution PMs.
  • Coordinating, preparing & deploying EPC RFP bid packages using the ProCore platform, facilitating RFI feedback from Engineering and Construction teams.
  • Analyzing EPC bid responses and making formal selection recommendations to Construction team through completion of Bid Summary Reports.
  • Identifying and implementing improvement initiatives in all the bidding and contractual processes associated with the development of AES CE’s renewable portfolio.
  • Coordinating EPC CAPEX cost reviews, contract negotiations, supply-chain logistics, and cost reconciliations.
  • Collaborating with Estimating for comparison with internal CAPEX estimates and final project costs; working with estimating team to review and identify efficiencies to promote more accurate CAPEX estimates.
  • Providing execution ready Bid Summary packages to construction PM to ensure seamless transition to execution phase.
  • Coordinating EPC Engagement Plan with Execution Strategy team to establish RFP path.
  • Prioritizing projects weekly in coordination with Pre-Construction Team.
  • Supporting project construction cost estimate messaging and ongoing updates to financial capex project inputs to support Business Development, Construction and Finance teams with financial modelling and cost/budget monitoring.
  • Managing EPC Target Price process including knowledge of labor, material and other direct / indirect costs associated with project Domestic Content and PWA needs.
  • Working with the project team to produce a Development schedule incorporating all key design, utility and permitting milestones, and anticipated EPC construction timeline to achieve required COD date.
  • Understanding project schedule sequencing to identify issues such as permitting, site control, equipment delivery timing, potential PPIS and logistics challenges.
  • Identifying schedule risks and clearly communicating to project team.
  • Reporting any scheduling or project ‘Red Flags’ to project team and Director, if needed.
  • Building strong relationships with key EPC contractors, and forming partnerships with a view to collaborating in the construction of large regional portfolios.
  • Managing project RFPs, and ensuring compliant bid responses through clear communications.
  • Supporting EPC Contract negotiations to ensure alignment with RFP assumptions and bids.
