About The Position

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Precision Engineering, or a related field, with 12+ years of experience; Master’s degree with 10+ years; or PhD with 7+ years.
Extensive experience leading and influencing high-stakes engineering projects in optics, opto-mechanical design, and metrology.
Demonstrated ability to operate independently with consultative oversight, initiating projects and following through to successful completion.
Recognized expertise as a technical advisor, innovator, and organizational representative.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of new engineering principles, concepts, and methodologies that set industry benchmarks.
Solve unusually complex technical problems by providing innovative, ingenious solutions that influence long-range business objectives.
Work under consultative direction, proactively determining and pursuing the best courses of action to achieve critical results.

Serve as a spokesperson for advanced engineering and manufacturing projects, representing the organization in key technical forums and client engagements.
Mentor and inspire engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous development.
Make decisions whose impact is felt across the organization—recognizing that recommendations in this role can influence Corning’s technological reputation and strategic success.
