We are seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer who will be responsible for leading the development, validation, and evolution of battery and power supply systems for mobile medical workstations. The ideal candidate has many years’ experience working across battery systems, power supplies, thermal design and validation. This position reports to the Hardware Engineering Manager and is a ON SITE role located in Portland, Oregon.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field
  • 12+ years of experience in power electronics, battery systems, or similar.
  • Experience with lithium battery systems (prismatic and cylindrical).
  • Experience with AC/DC, DC/DC, and charging systems.
  • Hands-on lab experience includes prototyping and validation.
  • Experience working with external vendors.
  • Strong understanding of thermal management.
  • Experience with PCB design.
  • Experience supporting product certification and compliance activities for medical or other regulated electronic products
  • Strong attention to detail and structured testing approach.

Responsibilities

  • Define and develop next-generation power systems, including battery and power supply platforms.
  • Evaluate architectures to improve performance, charging speed, reliability, and cost.
  • Lead technical evaluation and qualification of battery and power supply vendors.
  • Develop structured scoring and comparison methods for supplier performance.
  • Act as the primary engineering interface with suppliers.
  • Define validation strategies and acceptance criteria for vendor systems.
  • Improve test throughput by shifting validation responsibility to suppliers.
  • Analyze and improve thermal performance of high-power systems.
  • Support passive and active thermal design strategies.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and software engineering teams.
  • Enable effective communication across distributed teams executive leadership
  • Identify emerging technologies and contribute to system roadmaps.
  • Apply project management best practices to plan and execute power system development projects, track deliverables, manage technical risks, and coordinate cross-functional activities.
