Senior Power Electronic Test Engineer

Renesas Electronics•Goleta, CA

About The Position

The Senior Power Electronic Test Engineer helps develop and validate GaN power devices by designing SALT/HTOL test circuits and systems, evaluating device behavior in power converter circuits, creating MCU firmware for automated testing, supporting magnetics design, and troubleshooting hardware issues. The role works closely with cross-functional teams and prepares clear documentation to support reliable, repeatable, long-duration testing. The engineer analyzes GaN device behavior in common power converter circuits and translates circuit and device behavior into suitable SALT/HTOL stress conditions. They design test circuits that safely and consistently apply the required stress levels, develop and maintain C/C++ MCU firmware for test automation, system control, and data collection, and assist with designing and optimizing inductors and transformers for high-frequency GaN test setups. They also document procedures, system configurations, and updates; prepare technical reports on waveform observations, converter behavior, and reliability outcomes; and contribute to internal knowledge systems. The role requires a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and at least five years of experience, or a master's degree and at least three years of experience. The expected annual pay range is $98,000–$122,000, with eligibility for bonus opportunities. Renesas offers elective and company-paid benefits, including health coverage options, insurance, paid sick time, paid holidays, and accrued paid vacation.

Requirements
